Rippon Lodge is thought to be the oldest colonial home in Prince William County and quite possibly in Northern Virginia.
It was built about 1725 by Richard Black-burn of Ripon, an old cathedral town in England. Colonel Thomas Blackburn, his son, was a contemporary and fought with George Washington. In that period the families of Mount and Rippon were on very intimate terms. George Washington even made reference in his diary to overnight stays at Rippon Lodge with Mrs. Washington.

On December 16, The Potomac News and Manassas Journal Messenger ran a cover story about the J.E.Rice Hardware Store which is located in the Manassas Shopping Center on Mathis Avenue.
Their saying is, "If we don't have it you don't need it or they don't make it."
J.E.Rice, Sr. opened the store in 1936 at another location and opened this store in1957. The founder's three grandchildren still operate the store which stocks in excess of 35,000 items. Over the past 31 years my husband and I have developed a rather substantial Sphere of Influence. We have sold first homes to children of our clients. These buyers were four and five years old when we first met their parents.
There is no question Search Engine Optimization is a currently important aspect of the real estate business. It is also most important to remember SOI was here long before SEO and will still be vital long after SEO is replaced by whatever technology comes down the road.

One of them is in Old Town Manassas and one of them is in Occoquan. Since they are both incorporated that doesn't confuse the county government.
More importantly, they are both very historical places and their Center Streets are loaded with quaint shops and inviting restaurants. Typical of most "Old Towns" you can stroll from one end to the other rather quickly unless you detour through the shops and eateries. The pictures below were taken in Manassas on Center Street.

Dale City was the inspiration of Cecil Don Hylton and his wife Irene. His firm, Hylton Homes began developing homes in Dale City west of I-95 at the conclusion of World War II. The construction stretched from I-95 west to Hoadly Road.
The pictures at the right and immediately below are representative of the older Dale City homes.

The square footage above is for the main and upper levels only - it does not include basement square footage. There are 200 detached homes in Twin Oaks - the first homes were delivered in 1986.
One of the features of this subdivision is that the homes are on 1/4 acre lots. New homes of this size would have lots 5,000 square feet or less.
Currently, there are three homes on the market which says a lot about the popularity of these homes with only three out of 200 for sale.

It's that time of the year again when Marine Corps Reserve Units or Marine Corps League Detachments go all out in their mission of providing a NEW TOY for needy children throughout the country. In those parts of the country where there are no Reserve or League units men and women, usually retired Marines, can form groups, become authorized and fulfill the need in their community.

And these are not your mother's librarians. For the past two years the Prince William County Public Library Cartwheelers have been the "showstoppers" at local parades. This is one of the many methods Library Director and fellow Rotarian Dick Murphy uses to publicize the library system. They do not ride Harleys like Shriners or mounted police units, but they get a lot of enthusiastic applause as they do their routine. The library system is constantly improving its' services to include online availability of books and reference material. Our county's libraries are a widely used resource.
