This Memorial Day Arthur and I went to Quantico National Cemetery to honor those who have served defending our freedoms. He also has two friends interred there. The microphone was off as we passed the Avenue of Flags entering and leaving. We had the mike on as we passed several of the grave sites - the quiet except for the sound of the wind and birds is what makes these resting places of our veterans special. Yesterday my husband was at Quantico National Cemetery visiting the gravesites of several friends who have passed away. They are not men he served with in WWII, but men and women he and I have known while performing community service since we moved to the area. This is a departure from the old policy in which an injured vet was sent to the Veteran's Administration Hospital closest to their home. When the developers exhausted the land supply in Lake Ridge they bought a major tract just at the west end of Lake Ridge and voila - Westridge was born. The Springwoods section of Lake Ridge connects with Westridge without having to access Old Bridge Road.
