quantico: Remembering At Quantico National Cemetery Memorial Day 2011 - 05/30/11 11:28 AM
This Memorial Day Arthur and I went to Quantico National Cemetery to honor those who have served defending our freedoms. He also has two friends interred there. The microphone was off as we passed the Avenue of Flags entering and leaving. We had the mike on as we passed several of the grave sites - the quiet except for the sound of the wind and birds is what makes these resting places of our veterans special.
On Saturday we had the pleasure of attending an outdoor concert at the Marine Museum performed by a newly formed military group "Band Of Americas … (10 comments)

quantico: The Final Formation - 05/31/10 07:52 AM

Yesterday my husband was at Quantico National Cemetery visiting the gravesites of several friends who have passed away. They are not men he served with in WWII, but men and women he and I have known while performing community service since we moved to the area. Like most veterans they were the type of people who felt a deep love of country and community continuing to contribute for years after serving our country in all branches of our armed forces. While there he took photos for a brief slide show he entitled

quantico: TWIN OAKS - 2500 to3000 SQUARE FEET IN PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY - 11/22/07 05:24 PM

The square footage above is for the main and upper levels only - it does not include basement square footage.  There are 200 detached homes in Twin Oaks - the first homes were delivered in 1986.
One of the features of this subdivision is that the homes are on 1/4 acre lots.  New homes of this size would have lots 5,000 square feet or less.
Currently, there are three homes on the market which says a lot about the popularity of these homes with only three out of 200 for sale.
Entrance to Twin Oaks is on Minnieville Road - they are between Smoketown and Old … (2 comments)

quantico: AID TO RECOVERING VETERANS - 11/21/07 06:46 PM

Recovering veterans are now sent to the Veteran's Administration Hospital best qualified to provide care for their specific injuries.  This is a departure from the old policy in which an injured vet was sent to the Veteran's Administration Hospital closest to their home.
It is not difficult to understand that this creates an emotional and financial hardship for their families who contribute the love that assisits in their recovery.  The federal government does not provide funding to support the family travelling to and staying with their loved one while in the hospital.
Here in Virginia a local grass roots organization was formed to provide … (4 comments)

quantico: TOYS FOR TOTS - 11/16/07 10:01 AM
It's that time of the year again when Marine Corps Reserve Units or Marine Corps League Detachments go all out in their mission of providing a NEW TOY for needy children throughout the country.  In those parts of the country where there are no Reserve or League units men and women, usually retired Marines, can form groups, become authorized and fulfill the need in their community.
The earlier you participate the easier it will be for the Corps to meet their objective - because of the massive recall of toys, they intend to check every toy against the recall list and that takes time.  The … (11 comments)

quantico: Westridge - Woodbridge Prince William County VA Real Estate - 10/28/07 07:21 AM

When the developers exhausted the land supply in Lake Ridge they bought a major tract just at the west end of Lake Ridge and voila - Westridge was born.  The Springwoods section of Lake Ridge connects with Westridge without having to access Old Bridge Road.

One of the attractive features to families with young children and as a resale asset for everybody is the fact that the subdivision boasts its' own elementary school.
