If you purchase a home between April 8, 2008 and June 30, 2009.  You may be eligible for a Home buyer Tax Credit.   This credit , $7,500 would be available for qualified first time home buyers. You would receive the credit when you file your 2008 or 2009 tax return then you would repay the interest free loan over the next 15 years at $500. a year, each year you file your return. 
This is a great program because you receive the 7,500  in the first year you purchase your home so you can make needed repairs & updates.
