AR referrals...through interactions here, not the referral button...it's great.
It's taken a little time, however, the time blogging here on AR has been well worth my while.
I have received 6 referrals in the last 2 months through my friends here on AR.
They have come from California...Chicago, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Two have even come from Canada.
What is important here on AR is the interactions, emails, and conversations that result in friendships you probably would never have had without Active Rain.
This plethora of knowledge from some of the most astute agents here cannot be found in a class, a … (6 comments)

24, my show...What's yours? - 01/15/09 08:43 PM
24, my show...What's yours?
Up at 7 am, coffee at 7:15 am...listening to messages and checking email by 8 am...responding to email by 8:15 am.
Coffee, shower, hair, dressing for the success of the day by 9:30 am (okay, I'm not really a morning person so it takes me 15 minutes longer than most, LOL).
Phone calls start to come in for showing instructions, customer's start calling, office is calling to tell you that there are faxes there. I LOVE MY JOB!
Happy to hear from the office, faxes are good...especially if they are referrals, qualified buyers, offers and the like...

This is today in Broward County, South Florida. - 01/15/09 07:44 PM

This is today in Broward County, South Florida.  Gettin' better every day. Don't let anyone tell you differently... please read on.

This is our MLS hot sheet.

when I first looked at it I was like, WOW, this is great.  Look at all the pendings, well then we have to factor in all the short sales, which sometimes pend for months.  Then I looked at the closed sales today...256...great numbers. Even the backup contracts are about normal for here.
More and more people are calling and more and more people are looking for real estate in … (4 comments)

All this techie stuff is great, but does John Q Public care? - 01/09/09 11:01 PM
All this techie stuff is great, but does John Q Public care?  Truthfull answer, probably not.
Who is searching on line? The under 35 crowd?  Perhaps they have had some computer training...most have not.
While some of us are trying to keep up with all the new technology and the new training coming from the AR crew, most people over 40 don't need in searching for a new home the advanced technology that is afforded them.
The google juice that we are afforded by learning new technology is great, if you can understand it and apply it. However, it takes time … (26 comments)

Where have all the residents gone? Rentals aren't renting, condo's/homes are vacant? Where are they? - 01/07/09 11:58 PM
Where have all the residents gone? Rentals aren't renting, condo's/homes are vacant? Where are they?
Where are people living these days.  There was a report on FOX news this morning stating that the rental industry is not doing well either.  If all the people are in foreclosure, REO's and the rental market is also excessive, where are people living these days?  DID THEY MOVE HOME WITH THE PARENTS? That question was posed by Megyn Kelly this morning on FOX news.
That being said, where is everyone?  Are families being forced to live together in conditions not suitable? Has the situation in … (13 comments)

If the housing market had as much attention as the auto industry, wouldn't everything else fall into place? - 01/06/09 02:05 AM
If the housing market had as much attention as the auto industry, wouldn't everything else fall into place?
I'm just curious to YOUR OPINION on how the government prioritizes.
People need a place to call home.  They need job security. Then they need their own vehicle. After all there are buses and taxi's and other means of transportation.
Everyone is looking for a "bail out," however, the root cause of the debacle we are experiencing stems from the real estate frenzie and the ability to get mortgages whether one could afford a home or not.  There were loans for everyone, and people … (35 comments)

Today was great, 8 lead's in one day, and I wasn't even doing desk duty! Positivity is success! - 01/03/09 10:14 PM
Today was great, 8 lead's in one day, and I wasn't even doing desk duty! Positivity is success!
Today was fantastic.  I was at the office working and waiting for a customer and the phone was ringing off the hook.
People were perusing the window and actually filling out the new customer profiles.  Some were volunteering that they had cash!
At one point in time, I HAD THREE CUSTOMERS THAT I WAS TALKING TO AT ONCE OUTSIDE OUR OFFICE!
AMAZING.
If was a great day and it was just by circumstance.  People are over the Holidays and they are ready for … (26 comments)

What's in your drawer? What's your comfort food during a busy day at the office? - 01/02/09 10:09 PM
What's in your drawer? What's your comfort food during a busy day at the office?
OK, you're busy at the office, your stomach is growling feverously.  You are working diligently...and you are getting tired.
Is it another cup of coffee? Is it a caffeinated soda? Is it a snack bar?
Do you bring snacks with you?  Do you stop at MacDonalds? Starbucks? Dunkin Donuts? Subway?
Do you forget to eat?  How does that affect your ability to work? Or does it?
Do you have snacks with you in your car in case your customers are diabetic? Candy? Water?
What's your COMFORT … (10 comments)
