What's a valet? my customer asked. - 12/31/10 09:56 PM
What's a valet? my customer asked. I got one of those, "I guess this might be a stupid question to ask, but..."What's a valet?" This question was precipitated by an email that I sent to a couple looking for a condo on the beach here in south east Florida. It was one of the great amenities included in a condo building where I found them a great deal in their price range. NOTE TO SELF: NEVER ASSUME. This could be because of a language barrier or just because they were young and never experience a situation where there was a valet (8 comments)
What is your Traditional New Years feast to bring luck and prosperity for 2011? - 12/31/10 08:44 PM
What is your Traditional New Years feast to bring luck and prosperity for 2011? There are many traditional meals cooked on New Years Day that families hope will bring them prosperity, luck and happiness going into the next year. Many of these foods are traditional by virtue of ethnicity. Here are a few that I know about: 1. Pork and Sauerkraut. My family always has pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and fresh applesauce (and my father always loved to put chopped sweet onions on top and mix it up like a huge casserole mound). This has been our families tradition since as (4 comments)
What is a S.W.I.F.T. code? - 12/22/10 11:28 PM
What is a S.W.I.F.T. code? Was a question emailed to me by a customer. (Note: I had sent her wiring instructions for her closing and this was not something she was familiar with. Not a native to America, there was a slight language barrier as well.) My answer to her: The initials S.W.I.F.T. stand for The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications. It is a code identifying a bank used when doing wire transfers. I contains information that identifies where the wire transfer is to "land", so to speak, or what bank it is to arrive at when it is sent (13 comments)
Let us remember our members who passed this year...I lost one, please add yours to mine. - 12/19/10 09:52 PM
Let us remember our members who passed this year...I lost one, please add yours to mine. While I had not been able to blog this summer due to a car accident, I am now to the point where I can sit and type again. When I got back on AR, the first and worst thing in the world was that Laurie Manny had passed away, to early in her life. She was instrumental to AR and helped me so much to get acclimated to AR. Always had something funny to add. Was planning to get introduced to LA (with her assistance) (4 comments)
How would you describe AR in 20 minutes or less? - 12/15/10 01:55 AM
How would you describe AR in 20 minutes or less? If you had to describe Activerain to your office in 20 minutes or less...What would be your top 5 points to cover? For me, #1 Communication and interactions in our community (we are a community). #2 Information (many posts are informative). #3 Friendships (are developed and this is how we get referrals). #4 Real Estate advice (just when you need it... just ask). #5 Legal advise...then a whole lot more (there are lawyers, appraisers, inspectors, etc here to help you!) AR's Raincamps, the access to the best of the best in the (6 comments)
Are you the ghost writer or the owner of your post on AR? Fess up! - 12/14/10 11:14 PM
Are you the ghost writer or the owner of your post on AR? Fess up! Just curious to know! I know many brokers and REALTORS(r) as myself are very busy. However, I do NOT use a ghost writer to post for me on AR. I might not write until late in the evening ( and I find this relaxing to a point), and I do not use an assistant to write my opinions on AR. That being said, I would rather not post an opinion if I am busy rather than have an assistant post a comment that might go out (6 comments)
Mark Madoff, a father's loss due to his own demise and selfish greed. - 12/11/10 11:26 PM
Mark Madoff, a father's loss due to his own demise and selfish greed. I'm glad I am not a product of Bernie Madoffs ponzi scheme. However, I don't know if his son Mark (who hung himself last night with his 2 yo son sleeping in the home) or Andrew his other son were involved in his debacle or not. It's a shame if neither new, More shame is that if they in fact really were not involved. Mark hung himself last night with a dog chain while his son slept in his condo. Marks wife was here in Orlando with their (9 comments)
What are your 3 top wishes for this Holiday Season? - 12/08/10 12:27 AM
What are your 3 top wishes for this Holiday Season? It doesn't matter what your religion...this is a question that I have for everyone. Life is short, the world is in a tough situation right now, however, I would like to know what each and everyone of you wish for the Holiday Season. Me, myself and I...would like the following 3, how about you? 1. I would like peace on earth and our troops to come home to their families alive and well to their children and families. This war has gone on long enough. 2. I would like the (4 comments)
Elizabeth Edwards, rest in peace! - 12/07/10 11:34 PM
Elizabeth Edwards, rest in peace! Elizabeth Edwards, what a wonderful woman. She wrote personal diaries from her, to her living children. Her son Wade passed from a car accident years ago (1996). John Edwards, ex-wife was a wonderful woman, a lot more humane than he was. She was a humanitarian, a cancer advocate, and a loving mother to her children. I feel sorry for the children in this Holiday time, however her lasting spirit and advocacy for Breast Cancer will live on. I'm so sorry for her children's loss in this Holiday time. She was and ICON, a wonderful woman, and a (14 comments)

The slump in the housing market parallels health insurance rates! I think it does. - 12/05/10 10:14 PM
The slump in the housing market parallels health insurance rates! I think it does. In the last few years, the housing market was at an all time high and now has fallen to a new time low (but I think it has bottomed out in SE FL). THAT being said, I would like to know what percentage of your current mortgage [if you pay a mortgage or your rent] would pay your health insurance. For example, if you are single and had any previous health issues (cancer takes 10 years of non-cancer recurrance to get back to a semi-normal monthly fee), you (1 comments)
