Yesterday CORT furniture rental company announced that it was launching a "national home staging services" segment of their business and it may have set off some red flags in the staging community, especially if you read one of the releases that was "tweaked" in the Bizjournals article. It was certainly confusing and misleading to some degree.
After speaking with the media representative, Amanda Denton, and my local CORT representative, Kathy LaMarr I received permission to post the original press release as correctly written here on my blog.

We are officially starting the process of bringing a Dallas Chapter of RESA to our area and you're invited to attend the 1st "Meet & Greet Kick-Off" .

On Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 I had the privilege once again of leading the discussion topics for our 2nd Dallas, Ft. Worth, TX Stage It Forward Stager's Roundtable at the CORT Furniture Rental Conference Center in Irving, TX.
Kathy LaMarr, Home Staging Support Services Representative(yes she has a new title just for the home staging segment of the company!) was again a most generous and gracious event sponsor who not only provided the venue for free but complimentary coffee, sodas and snacks to get us started that morning. Hum.
That question, referring to the furniture and decor proposed for use in a vacant property, was posed to me this week by a client who has never worked with a home stager before. Although I've never been asked this question directly before, I could relate. I'm sure others have thought to ask me the very same thing just maybe didn't feel comfortable enough to ask out loud.
There are many sellers in this same predicament and some are nervous.
Home staging is an investment and it's not a small one when we're talking vacant property staging.

Yesterday we had a great time at our annual DFW IAHSP Fundraiser.
Once again it was co-hosted by our valued and much appreciated business partner CORT Furniture Rental at their Inwood Showroom.
Kathy LaMarr, CORT Rep. extraordinaire & our local home stager supporter & innovator, once again out did herself.The food, showroom and tables-capes were great! Thank you Kathy for arranging that!
This once a year free event, is open to the public and benefits our Chapter's philanthropies. This year we have chosen Promise House as our project for World Wide Staging Service Week 2008.
So far we've raised close to $3,000 from the benefit!

cort: Houston meets Dallas at the SIF North TX Roundtable Hosted by CORT Furniture - 01/12/08 05:00 PM
Thursday, January 10th I had the pleasure of moderating the first North Texas SIF Roundtable discussion for area stagers held at the CORT Furniture Conference Center in Irving, TX. Although there were only 10 in attendance, we were able to gain valuable insight and learn from each other's varied experience. For those that couldn't make it you missed an awesome event but we hope to do this again sometime later in the year.
I am thrilled with how well our discussions went and how wonderful all my colleagues are in the staging profession in Dallas, TX and beyond.
