Today's client had completed some of the staging recommendations we had discussed during our 2 hour home staging consultation on Monday. In fact when he called to confirm further home staging services for his Mckinney, TX home with Home Star Staging he asked if I could reduce the rate based on the amount of work he did. From what he told me, I was able to estimate an hour less of time to complete our portion of it. I had the pleasure of attending with my sweet friend Carla yesterday and we got to peek inside some of the charming and historic homes in downtown Plano. The recent North Texas local news report about the crook who is posing as a home buyer but has stolen 10's of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from local home sellers has prompted me to revisit a subject I wrote about a while back on this very issue. This subject is unfortunately never going to go away and I believe we all need to be much more aware of our surroundings when selling a home in today's real estate market.

First let me say, I am not a Realtor.
However, as a Plano Home Staging Professional, my business involves selling real estate. And even though I am not a Realtor nor selling my home one thing I do know is that selling a home yourself is not a good idea!
Let me explain.
Today I took the time to visit 2 North Texas open houses. One I was invited to as a professional home stager to provide some feedback on, the other I stopped in on my way home, just because I wanted to.

This is a follow up to a blog I posted last month on a home in Richardson,TX that had been on the market for 5 months with no offers.
Home Star Staging was contracted to stage the vacant property as well as recommend minor updating. All work was complete on February 15th, 2010.

Yesterday I met with a new client I'll be staging a home for in Richardson, TX.
It is a vacant property that has been on the market for 5 months and they need to sell! The owner is out of the country and has court appointed a family member to take care of the details and sale of the home and at this point they are willing to do whatever it takes to get this listing sold.
They have currently taken the home off market as an "inactive listing" to re list later this month.
