The Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors did the unthinkable and with zest. We held a "County-Wide" open house this weekend. The major television stations gave us coverage, the local paper advertised with a "full page spread" mentioning all the companies that were partaking. Individual agents were able to advertise their own listing at a discounted price.
We gave away free Realtor pins, Realtor balloons, brochures educating the buyers on first time home buying, our "Get The Facts" campaign brochure as to why real estate is local, financing brochures regarding FHA loans and information regarding our local real estate market.

Dealing with Debt After Retirement Reverse mortgages designed to help "house rich, cash poor" seniors meet their day-to-day expenses have gained popularity. Equity is taken out of the home, so debt increases and equity diminishes over time, (unless the property value increases and offsets this use of equity).Many lenders offer reverse mortgages, and most are set up so that there is no monthly payment as long as the owner or co-owner(s) reside in the home. I was just interviewed by Bridget McCrea from The Residential Specialist (The CRS Magazine) for the January-February issue regarding our regional real estate outlook. Here were two of her questions.
How would I characterize our market? Our median sales price in Snohomish County has increased anywhere from 14% to 36%(closer to the King County line). Our closed sales for July are 43% under what they were a year ago. We have a shortage of affordable housing with our median sales price at $367,000 up from $319,000 a year ago. I am a big fan of credentials. I feel that we owe our customers the best service we can provide. So to be on top of your game, ABR, CRS, SRES, e-PRO Internet Certified are important to me. The educators that teach these classes are top notch and you can always learn something; e-Pro can be taken on line at your leisure.
With technology changing, laws changing, economies changing, you really need to be prepared to handle any situation.
Also, attend your company's annual convention. As a RE/MAX agent, I've attended their conventions. Top educators, great classes, fabulous networking and the trade shows … (2 comments)
