national association of realtors: Shopping for a Home in Snohomish County - 07/23/08 10:44 AM
If you are thinking of buying a home in Snohomish County Washington, you couldn't have picked a better time.
The Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors is sponsoring a "County-Wide" Open House weekend, July 26 and 27. Ove 30 brokers will be holding their listings open. We expect over 400 homes to be open for viewing this weekend.
You ask why, the local Realtors want to do something positive for what has been a dismal selling season. Growing inventory is providing a lot of choices. Competition among sellers has created a buyer's market and better home deals.

national association of realtors: Remodel vs. Remodel - 03/01/08 06:45 AM
Brazillian Cherry Woods - Pergo; Viking 8 burner range - Jennaire range; Travertine tiles - domestic tile, slab granite counter tops - granite squares or corian counter tops. What does this all mean?
The National Association of Realtors released statistics regarding remodels and your rate of return. In 2006 the rate of return on an average remodel was 77.4% - in 2007 the return was 68.4%. That's a $16,000 loss on a $50,000 kitchen remodel.
Watch the video here that talks about "modest remodels" in Snohomish County. It's Ok to remodel, just keep it modest to try to realize a higher rate of … (6 comments)

national association of realtors: Nobody Knows Washington Real Estate like a Washington REALTORĀ® - 10/19/07 04:03 PM
Know The Facts - The foreclosure rates today are the same as they were 10 years ago.  Fewer than one percent of mortgages end in default in Washington state. As of mid-June, sub-prime, adjustable-rate loans represented 20 percent of loans nationally but just 6 percent of home loans in Washington.
You Ask Why - Home appreciation in Washington continues to be strong. Home prices have increased an average of 8% since the same time last year.  Interest rates continue to be low.  Our home market isn't keeping pace with the growth of the state's population, expected to increase 1.8 percent per … (5 comments)

national association of realtors: Snohomish County Market Conditions - 09/23/07 05:20 PM
Mortgage Problems to Dampen Homes Sales in the Short Term
According to the latest forecast by the National Association of Realtors®, tightening credit standards for those applying for home mortgages will likely dampen home sales in the short term and postpone an expected recovery for existing-home sales until 2008.
Lawrence Yun, senior NAR economist, said unusual disruptions in the mortgage market are dampening the outlook for home sales, notably for August and September.  "There's been an unusual hit to home sales, starting in March when subprime problems emerged and more recently when problems spread to jumbo loans, with many potential home buyers on … (0 comments)

national association of realtors: Snohomish County Real Estate Stats - 03/13/07 10:35 AM
Frigid Air Affects Home Sales "A rapid shift in February to frigid air in much of the country had a cooling effect on home shopping that went beyond normal seasonal factors. Weather factors have continued since, reported David Lereah, the National Association of Realtors chief economist." You will see this is true for both the King County and Snohomish County housing markets. but, even though sales slowed, prices rose in both counties.
Active listings in King County increased in February 2007 by 1,708 homes or 28 percent compared to the same time period in 2006. In comparison, sales in February decreased by 2 percent or 78 homes. The average market time in February increased … (1 comments)

national association of realtors: Snohomish County Market Conditions - 01/14/07 05:22 PM
David Lereah, National Association of Realtors chief economist, said a fairly steady pace of home sales can be expected for the next two months. "It's important to focus on where the housing market is now - it appears to be stabilizing, and comparisons with an unsustainable boom mask the fact that home sales remain historically high - they'll stay that way through 2007." he said. "In addition, a temporary correction in prices distracts from the fact that it is primarily the number of homes sales that affects the economy, and the number for this year will be the third highest on … (0 comments)
