sccar: Largest County Wide Open House - April 18 and 19 - Snohomish County, WA - 04/13/09 04:11 PM
The Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors is planning a county-wide open house this weekend, April 18 and 19. This worked so well last year, we had over 400 houses open and an increase in pending sales in August over the year before, they decided to do it again after surveying their members. There will be special advertising in the Everett Herald, for all REALTOR® listings. REALTOR® balloons, buyer handouts will be available explaining financing and most especially information on the $8000 tax stimulus for first time home buyers (defined as anybody who has not owned a home in the

sccar: Your Snohomish County Camano Association of REALTORS® at Work for You - 04/01/08 04:18 PM
Being the champions of home ownership, SCCAR is working to help you, the consumer. Our 2008 Government Affairs Priorities inlcude: Affordable Housing Initiatives, Land Use, Sign Codes. We are working with Snohomish County to insure that all regulatory changes that could have an economic impact on the cost of housing must have an "Affordable Housing Impact Note". We continue to provide input for the Snohomish County 10-Year Housing Action Plan coordinated by the Snohomish County Housing Consortium. We have prepared a "position paper" which will aid members in proactively advocating for the tools that this plan should contain in order to effectively

sccar: Street of Dreams - Dreams No More - 03/04/08 09:59 AM
It was a sad day for the community in rural Seattle on Monday. Very early in the morning arson struck a string of homes - these weren't just "any" homea. It was called "Seattle's Street of Dreams" The Street of Dreams is an annual showcase of luxury homes. The builders used "Built Green" standards such as water-pervious sidewalks, super-insulated walls and windows and products made with recycled materials, such as carpet pads. Advertising for last summer's Street of Dreams show focused on the environmentally friendly aspects of the homes, which were smaller than some of the huge houses featured in years past.

sccar: Snohomish County - Conquering Homelessness - 01/17/08 12:05 PM
It was my honor to be asked by the Snohomish County Executive, Aaron Reardon, to be a member of his Housing and Homlessness Committee, as past president of the Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors. Snohomish County began a timely initiative Friday geared toward ending homelessness and increasing affordable housing by convening the first meeting of the Housing & Homelessness Policy Oversight Committee. The committee coincides with other efforts the county will make this year to tackle two of the most pressing issues facing Snohomish County. Executive Aaron Reardon convened Friday's committee meeting, gathering around him nearly 40 members of the community. Represented

sccar: Subprime Lending and FHA Reform - 09/14/07 02:20 PM
Congressman Rick Larsen called our local Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors and asked to meet with us regarding discussions of the sub-prime lending market and its problems locally. As President 2007 of the Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors, I attended this meeting. After a lengthy discussion with Congressman Larsen about sub-prime loans that were made to buyers who could (A) Barely qualify, and (B) had zero down and are now facing dramatic increases in their mortgage payments after their first adjustment period and an increasing risk of foreclosure; Congressman Larsen has decided to sign on to the new bill being presented to the

sccar: Washington Association of Realtors "Hill Day" - 01/08/07 04:40 PM
As President of the Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors, I'll be in Olympia, WA, the State Capital, on Wednesday, January 17. This is Washington REALTORS®' Legislative Day, when hundreds of REALTORS® will converge on the Capitol grounds in Olympia to discuss ways to improve housing opportunities with their legislators. We have been very effective in the past, i.e., last year we defeated the raise in the State Excise tax that would have raised a tax that sellers pay at closing and is eventually passed down to the buyer. We were also successful in (temporarily) stopping the "Big Grab", preventing banks from entering the
