The Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors® held it's Annual Installation and Awards Banquet recently at Floral Hall in Everett, WA.
It was time to install new offices and recognize Realtor® members for their contributions to the Realtor Association over their tenure.
Beth Cooper was installed as our new President. The Board of Directors was also duly installed.
I was humbled to receive the "REALTOR® of the Year 2008" Award from last year's winner, Paul Chrysler. It certainly is an honor to follow in the footsteps of the previous winners.

The Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors did the unthinkable and with zest. We held a "County-Wide" open house this weekend. The major television stations gave us coverage, the local paper advertised with a "full page spread" mentioning all the companies that were partaking. Individual agents were able to advertise their own listing at a discounted price.
We gave away free Realtor pins, Realtor balloons, brochures educating the buyers on first time home buying, our "Get The Facts" campaign brochure as to why real estate is local, financing brochures regarding FHA loans and information regarding our local real estate market.

It was a sad day for the community in rural Seattle on Monday. Very early in the morning arson struck a string of homes - these weren't just "any" homea. It was called "Seattle's Street of Dreams" The Street of Dreams is an annual showcase of luxury homes.
The builders used "Built Green" standards such as water-pervious sidewalks, super-insulated walls and windows and products made with recycled materials, such as carpet pads. Advertising for last summer's Street of Dreams show focused on the environmentally friendly aspects of the homes, which were smaller than some of the huge houses featured in years past. … (9 comments)

As President 2007 of the Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors I am proud to make this announcement thanks to the efforts of Senator Patty Murray (D) Washington.
More low-income families will be able to buy homes under new legislation approved by the U.S. Senate today.
The bill lowers the down-payment requirement for a Federal Housing Administration mortgage from 3 to 1.5 percent, and increases the mortgage limit from $362,000 to $417,000. The bill now moves to a conference committee where the House and Senate will iron out differences in their versions of the measure.

Know The Facts - The foreclosure rates today are the same as they were 10 years ago. Fewer than one percent of mortgages end in default in Washington state. As of mid-June, sub-prime, adjustable-rate loans represented 20 percent of loans nationally but just 6 percent of home loans in Washington.

It's Saturday, October 6, 2007 and in the Pacific Northwest I think autumn has settled in. It's a dark, dreary rainy morning and it's 8:00 a.m.
What did I do that's so intriguing -- joined forces with the Snohomish County Graffiti Paint-Out Day. Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon said "A clean community is a safe community. That's why we are working with you to eliminate graffiti and create an environment where crime doesn't breed."

The Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors had a presentation recently from Aaron Reardon, our County Executive. Higher education in Snohomish County is one of his priorities.
Senator Jean Berkey from the 38th District sponsored Senate Bill 5322 which calls for the expedited creating and siting of an independent four-year polytechnic university in the Snohomish-Island-Skagit county region. On February 1, the Senate Higher Education Committee will hear testimony to move this legislation forward.
What does that mean for the residents of these three counties, advanced education opportunities for existing businesses while providing higher education access for the future leaders of our County.

The Snohomish County Camano Association of Realtors has just opened up it's election process. As a member benefit this year we are adding electronic balloting in addition to paper ballots. We have been revamping our website and decided to offer our members yet another way to vote in our local elections for officers and board of director members. We've added a ballot number that registers the member and locks in their vote. It also cross references if they inadvertently deliver a paper ballot, one becomes ineligible.
