uss abraham lincoln: Kids Take Helm of Navy Ship for a Day - 04/08/09 09:11 PM

Cmdr. Robert Bodvake stood on deck of the USS Momsen at Everett Naval Station and barked his first order to the deployed group "No Running". Strange you say, well he was speaking to a group of children age 6 to 12 who has either one or both parents in the military. They were on a "one day deployment of the USS Momsen".

The program, sponsored by the base's Fleet and Family Service Center and Child and Youth Programs help kids in military families understand their parents' roles in servng their country.

We are a community located 25 miles N. of Seattle, situated on the Puget Sound to the West and extends to the I-5 corridor on the East (as the crow flies). We are home to Boeing, and host their building which is the largest covered building in the world.
We have a beautiful Everett Naval Station that is about 6 years old. It is home to the U. S. S. Abraham Lincoln and the U. S. S. Shoup. We have a booming economy, our downtown, thanks to our Mayor and County Executive, is being renovated, the parks are being spruced up, … (4 comments)

uss abraham lincoln: Fleet Week - 08/09/06 09:08 PM

What an exciting time for Everett citizens. The aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln and the guided missle destroyer, U.S.S.Shoup arrived home at Port Everett after a lengthy deployment. New fathers were allowed off the ships first. It was heart warming to see construction works on the waterfront stop and salute the men as they arrived. Everyone was at their vantage point to welcome these wonderful solders back home. Our town is bustling while they enjoy their state-side visit. Welcome Home Boy! Read the story here.
