The other day a Realtor I know (not in my office) said that when a new buyer drops in the office while she is doing Floor Time, she just pulls up some listings meeting their criteria, hands them over to the buyer, along with a map, and shows 'em the door, waves bye-bye. I was almost speechless! Was she serious?
She was! I don't know about any of you Realtors/Brokers, but when I am in the office manning the phones and a "lead" pops in, I give them my undivided attention, help them in every way I possibly can; including getting pre-qualified, … (2 comments)

Relying on Floor Time for Your Business Can Create a False Sense of Security - 11/14/10 02:32 PM
Do you rely on FLOOR-TIME/UP-TIME to bring you business? If so, you may be creating a false sense of security. Honestly, though, floor time can bring you clients. Providing a consumer picks up the phone and calls your company number. Or, if one waltzes in the door looking for a Realtor. And, certainly your company needs to have Realtors doing FLOOR-TIME/UP-TIME for just those instances.
But to reply completely on FLOOR-TIME/UP-TIME is not healthy for your business. Don't get me wrong, I've put in my time, and I still do when I am needed (if a Realtor friend asks me to fill … (42 comments)

"No, of course not," I told him, "Why would you ask me that?"
It seems my client, who used to live in our local mountains, had experienced this sort of treatment, long, long ago. From what he told me, many (his words, not mine) Realtors would flat out say they ONLY showed their company listings... AND, he continued to stress, MANY wouldn't show property without lake rights.

It really is! Regardless if it's to your client, your broker, the other Realtor/Agent, we MUST communicate in this business.
Before I go on, let me first say that this post isn't about one of my local Realtor colleagues. Even though this post fits many cases, it is about an escrow I have going with a Realtor (off the mountain) who has been having difficulty, for whatever reason, communicating.
For the past five days, I've had trouble getting calls answered from this particular Realtor. Email's not responded to. Faxes ignored....until this morning. Then I get an email that read "Been out of town."
