FACTS: In April of 1979, The Village was "burned to the ground" as a learning exercise, done by the San Bernardino County Fire Departments and the Air Corps. All buildings were burned except the original dance pavilion building, the post office, bank and real estate office.

FACT: BLUE JAY was originally called "Wixom Corner." The name was changed in 1924 (to BLUE JAY) the the Post Office was opened. In 1934, Stoney Dement began developing the business center. For more mountain history, check out RIM OF THE WORLD HISTORICAL SOCIETY (picture below is one I have hanging on a wall).

FACT: Jack Northrop (of Northrop Aircraft), famous aviator designer, built the first "sling lift" in our San Bernardino Mts. Before that, you had to hike up the hill in order to ski down!!!
