Even though Old Man Winter is visiting our mountains, we still have plenty going on during the holiday season. Just dress warm, check the weather and head on up (or out) to enjoy your weekend in Lake Arrowhead.
The Lake Arrowhead Repertory Theatre Company will be presenting Charles Dicken "A Christmas Story on December 10 - 19th. Check their site (link above) for times and cost.

Winter is just around the corner! I know, because several mornings this week, temps dipped to a burrrry 31 degrees. This was my first clue to getting the old cabin ready for winter. If mountain folks don't prepare, they may face some expensive problems (like broken pipes, for one).
Below are a few tips to get your Lake Arrowhead (mountain) home"prepared" for "Old Man Winter."
Fireplace: It's a perfect time, if you haven't already, to call a Chimney Sweep. He/she can make sure your fireplace is not only clean, but safe.

THE MOUNTAIN TOP HIKING CLUB is an organized group of people whose purpose is to hike local and distant trails, and to provide knowledge of the trails and scenic destinations to those folks who wish to learn the safely aspect of hiking and who want to enjoy the great outdoors.
Members are offered hikes throughout the year all through the mountains
Remember to BRING on your hikes: water, snacks, hat, sunscreen & to purchase your National Forest Adventure Pass.

No one, and I mean no one, has a crystal ball and can guarantee that our real estate market has done an about face. But I can tell you, from what I see and from new buyers I am getting weekly, that there is a "change in the air." I've seen increased sales, listings are on the market for shorter time periods and we're getting fewer listings. PRICES are fabulous!!! INTEREST RATES are fabulous. California Association of Realtors (CAR) just reported this article from the Sacramento Bee which shows a 12% increase in homes sales in the state … (3 comments)

I woke up this summer morning to the smell of rain.... that clean, clear smell. And living in the mountains, you get that clean, clear smell mixed with pine. Like when you're camping in the woods. Love it!
So if you're heading up today, be prepared for some sprinkles and perhaps thunderstorms. Check the weather, bring appropriate clothing (nothing really heavy, the temps are mild) and be careful driving the windy road up.
Check the weather and come on up for "fresh air" and fun!

Our summer has been one of the best in a long time; perfect weather and so many great events happening all the time. And, the Real Estate marekt is picking up. Though it's a slow increase, and prices may continue to drop a tad, it is a wonderful time to buy. We're bumping on the bottom and starting an upward trend (my two-cents). Don't be left behind.

I'm posting this early in case you're planning your weekend (now). Saturday August 22, 2009, WILDHAVEN will host a Champagne Dinner, have live entertainment and live and silent auctions to help raise money for this wonderful organization. LOCATION.
WILDHAVEN is a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Sanctuary in the San Bernardino Mountains, in Lake Arrowhead's Cedar Glen. The center opened in 1994 and is a not-for-profit organization. Its a wildlife sanctuary, an education and visitor center for endangered and indigenous wild animals. It is known as the "Forever Free Wildlife Care Center."
