Koko Crater Botanical Garden
 "a blooming volcanic crater"
In 1958, Koko Crater on the eastern side of O`ahu was set aside for development into a botanical garden.  Sixty acres of the inner slope and basin of this 200 acre crater is now cultivated with rare and endangered plants.  Long range plans is for continued cultivation of plants suitable to the desert like conditions. 
This morning after quite a few rains on the eastern slopes, Koko Head and surrounds were very green!  Although the plumeria were in winter mode with dropped leaves and little flowers, most of the cacti were blooming or finishing up … (1 comments)
