Consumers know what we make so why NOT mortgage brokers? - 02/28/08 10:26 AM
I was just reading this article HUD Pushes Closing Estimate Reform.
http://www.realtor.org/RMODaily.nsf/pages/News2008022701?OpenDocument
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is promoting rules that would force lenders to make closing costs easier to understand and reveal payments to mortgage brokers. (Easier to understand sounds good to me, just less explaining for me at the closing table)The proposal is less stringent than the one that failed in 2002, but still would require lenders to provide an accurate good faith estimate that doesn't change by more than 10 percent. (Ok still sounds fair to me)The most controversial portion of the proposal would require any … (4 comments)

170 New Jobs!! - 02/27/08 07:19 AM
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending an ceremony where one of our local factories, Fluid Routing Systems,  announced that they were expanding their facility here in our community.  They had other choices, of course, but they chose to bring these jobs here to Lexington.  I think that says alot about our community, our workforce and our city and county administration.  I love living here and this helps us make a living here as well!

Proud Lexington Little League Volunteer - 02/26/08 09:58 PM
It's just about BASEBALL time in TENNESSEE! Saturday, March 1 Lexington Little League has registration at Guy B. Amis Park from 10AM -12PM!  I proudly serve as the Public Relations Director for the league although my own son is now in high school.  With most organized sports leagues especially in a small town, there are often cries of 'politics' but I have never served with a group of people who are more dedicated to the concept of giving children an opportunity to play.  In a time when being an 'all star' seems to be in the forefront of most parents minds, this league has given … (0 comments)

Do you have a PREPAYMENT penalty? - 02/25/08 09:50 PM
A few months ago, a woman came into our office to list her home.  She bought the home about a year ago.  The agent that sold it to her was there and ask her to check her prepayment penalty.  The agent was almost positive that she had one and after some discussion, the agent simply told her that she couldn't sell in this market for what she needed to AND pay a penalty.  The homeowner would lose their shirt on it.
Well, a week later it's listed with another company.  The agent in our office figured hey I guess she didn't have … (8 comments)

For all you Doubting Thomas’s….AR does work! - 02/21/08 09:52 PM
Yesterday I listed a beautiful little farm.  It has 3 pastures, winding creeks and cool springs running through it and acres and acres of never cut timber.  It borders Tennessee's largest state park...Natchez Trace
Simply gorgeous!

Great - right!  Well of course, but the best part is that it came from an AR referral.  My cell phone rang Tuesday and on the line was an agent I have never met seeking a local agent for her friend.  We talked and when we got past the ‘Yes I'd love to help' I asked her ‘Why me?'  ‘Oh I looked on Active Rain, you were … (10 comments)

Natchez Trace State Park...Henderson County Treasure! - 02/21/08 09:19 PM
Do you live with a real treasure that you just take for granted?   NO I'm not talking about your significant other.  I am referring to a wonderful jewel in your community that you just overlook, or just plain forget about. Yesterday I had the opportunity to drive thru one of my local gems...Natchez Trace State Park.
Natchez Trace State Park is named for the famous "Natchez to Nashville" highway, an important wilderness road during the early 18th century. A western spur of The Trace ran through a portion of what is now the park.
With the many acres of scenic woodlands, the … (0 comments)

It's not personal - It's business! Ya think?!?! - 02/15/08 10:22 PM
As I sat at the closing table today with my buyers, it occured to me that my job as a Realtor is completely personal.  After a year of searching for this young couples dream home, our housing hunting journey came to an end, but our relationship did not.  During this year this couple had gotten pregnant, had another son, sold a house they had renovated while they were engaged and found their new home.  I have met their parents, played with their children, discussed their jobs, their plans and their dreams.  We have laughed together, shared tears of joy and have celebrated … (6 comments)
