The OC chapter of IRIS completed a "Healing Haven"project for an ovarian cancer survivor yesterday 8/28/09. It was a couple month process, in the end it was an increadible transformation.

The Redesigners and Stagers 8 in all, did an awesome job, redesigning her family room, kitchen, dining room and living room. There had been a horrible flood in the home 2 years ago, on the night of her cancer surgery. The flood was not covered by insurance and she has lived without furnishings and flooring in the lower level of her home for all this time. She is a career elementary teacher and was forced to retire early, due to the cancer. With very limited funds and the determination to give her home back to her to enjoy once again. The team spent 2 1/2 months soliciting donations and bartering with tradesman to complete the work necessary. There was some electrical, plumbling, painting and floor instatallion that needed to be completed prior to the teams redesign. What an awesome feeling to give back and be called angels!
