Having just left the Thursday Evening Cruise out on Reach St where there was a smorgasbord of cars that included classic, antique, historical, and custom street rods I dropped into Elgin Park to see how the preparations for this weekends RIBFEST were coming along.




As the sun began its slow descent over the calm waters of Elgin Pond



There was a little flurry of activityas a family of geese I had disturbedmoved away from the shore.

The Hidden Treasures of Uxbridge - The Dowling Scrolls - 07/14/08 10:26 PM
On Occasion, Uxbridge is treated to a rare glimpse of history,  to the enjoyment and amazement of all who see them, The Dowling Scrolls are unrolled and brought to light for a significant display. Rev James Thomas Dowling created this astounding one of a kind work of art during his tenure at the original Uxbridge Baptist Church during the 1870's
He painted them in a shed behind the church. The scrolls are 7 feet high, and there is a total length of 446 feet, painted in oil house paint on cotton canvas.

Feds Take Steps To Prevent US Style Subprime Meltdown - 07/11/08 06:22 AM
The Federal Government has taken steps to help reduce the risk to Canadians from a U.S. style sub prime meltdown by announcing changes that will shorten the maximum amortization period from 40 years to 35 years and set the maximum percentage of your gross income to be spent on housing related fixed or essential payments at 45%.
In 2006, as home prices soared, insured mortgage terms were increased from 25 years to 40 which provided access to government backed insured financing for more potential home buyers.

The warfs in Gravenhurst, Muskoka were all but empty when I shot these Photos but on On Sat July 5th they will be a bee hive of activity as they play host to the 28th annual Antique and Classic Boat Show. A place for the young to dream and and the old to reminisce. A place to see History come alive once again.
