WE ARE RENOVATING OUR WEB SITES
Over the next few months you will notice some changes in our sites Uxbridge Real Estate Online and My Uxbridge Information as new links and features are added or old ones are removed and our directories are updated. news and events: Blog Action Day 2008 - Poverty - Uxbridge Contributes to the Solution - 10/15/08 01:15 PM
It is appropriate that 2 days after blog action day a team of thirty medical and support staff will leave Uxbridge for Ghana as part of an International group heading for Northern Ghana. This is the second time that Uxbridge has contributed to the fight against poverty from a medical standpoint.
This years team includes Physicians, Surgeons, Dentists, Registered Nurses, Pharmacists, a Chiropractor, a Child life specialist, Health Care Administrators and Volunteers.
The top four cause of death in this area are Malaria, Pneumonia, Diarrhea and Anemia which are easily preventable and easily treatable if the resources are available.

A very powerful and visual demonstration of the number of deaths from hunger and hunger related causes are the demonstration maps by Poverty.com.
Their hunger map puts a face on the estimated 25,000 people who die of hunger or hunger related causes each day using their world map simulation,

Fire Prevention week is October 5th to October11th this year. Did you know cooking and heating are among the leading causes of home fires in Ontario. A pot holder held too close to a lit burner or a space heater left overnight could be all it takes to to start a home fire.

This years theme empasizes that cooking, heating equipment, electrical equipment,cigarettes, candles, matches and lighters are some of the lading causes of fires in the home.

Did You See The Sign, Did You Honk,
"Please pray for ‘Jason' who undergoes a ‘transplant' tomorrow. (There is a sign in front of a home on Toronto St. announcing that Jason will have a transplant tomorrow - Thursday) We don't know who this is, but we can certainly pray for him!"
Jason and family the Above was sent out to our church prayer network shortly after the sign was spotted yesterday. While we do not know you personally know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of all in our network.

The annual Trinity United Church Tour of Homes announces that Spring is definitely here! The Tour of Homes is just around the corner. The tour takes place on Saturday, June 7th from 10am to 5pm.
There are seven homes to tour at your own pace. You begin at the church where you can purchase your pass for $15, which includes the map and a brief description of the special features of each home. Also, refreshments, (tea and cookies) are included in your pass purchase and washrooms will be available at the church all day.

In honouring the 100th anniversary of "Anne of Green Gables" Uxbridge council has officially declared 2008 as "100 Years of Anne". The LMM Society and the Township have planned several events to help celebrate this anniversary. ------------
Visit Uxbridge and Leaskdale the weekend of June 14th and 15th and enjoy 100 Years of "Anne in Uxbridge" and old fashioned celebration of Canada's favourite pigtailed young redhead and her accomplished creator.

The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, launched Emergency Preparedness Week by announcing that the Government of Canada is giving $5 million to the provinces and territories to support emergency preparedness through the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program (JEPP). “Emergency Preparedness Week is a reminder of the unpredictability of emergency situations and the importance of being prepared,” said Minister Day. “
