60 60 60 60 60 60 60 60 60 60 60 - 05/30/08 02:15 PM
I'm sixty today.  OH NO !!!  Having a little trouble wrapping my mind around the future.  Twenty years from now will I be rocking out in my rocking chair to the Rolling Stones?  My intention is to sell real estate for 10 more years.  This industry is a great place to be when you are gray around the edges and not the prettiest girl in the bar anymore (or ever in my case).  Results are what matter in our business.  I've seen subtle and non subtle age discrimination happen to people around me - it doesn't happen to us with one … (11 comments)

Hey Money People! - 05/27/08 10:18 AM
Will someone explain to me in simple aging resltor terms the answer to this question.  Why is no one putting together syndicates of money to be loaned out to the able B and B- buyers?  I realize that for government backed loans there are all these requirements (getting stricter daily) but I know there's a huge pool of business out there that isn't being handled.  I am seeing buyer after buyer that will only qualify for FHA if that.  THere'a a huge amount of non FHA houses out there that could be being sold right now if we had decent financing.  There … (0 comments)

Headed for Desert Heaven - 05/22/08 09:21 PM
Tomorrow I am headed to Jordan Valley Oregon to show my listings there.  It'll be fun even though it's 75 miles from anywhere.  Most of Malheur county is federal land and Jordan Valley is an oasis in the middle of it.  Half of my roots are there.  My great great grandfather bought a ranch in 1864 and also with partners built a toll road between Jordan Valley and Silver City Idaho.  We;ve driven that road and it is Tough Terrain!  My forefathers and mothers did their best to uphold strict Presbyterian values in the wilderness.  The little area is home to … (0 comments)

After 14 years an open house worked! - 05/19/08 11:39 AM
I have had no faith in open houses and no results ever.  When I have done them it has been to appease a seller.  I do know they work for new houses, but that's not where I'm at.  But my husband was sick it was Sunday afternoon, I had taken Saturday off already.  So I decided to buy a balloon give flyers to the neighbors and hold one of my vacant listings open.  I used the time to work on my buyer list and make some calls.  VOILA! One of the neighbors had been thinking about the house and looked and wrote … (7 comments)

River front properties - 05/15/08 07:03 PM
We are on the Snake River here and 5 rivers run into the Snake within 30 miles.  the Owyhee comes in between Nyssa and Adrian Oregon as does the Boise, the Malheur comes in at Ontario, and the Payette about 5 miles north, about 10 miles past that - the Weiser ( a wild river - no dams) comes in.  There are some beautiful homes that take full advantage of the frontages and there will be more.  I just punched up the larger acreages on the Snake on the Oregon side for some folks and there is a lot of very nice frontage property … (2 comments)

Voting in Oregon - 05/05/08 02:46 PM
I just voted!  There are things I don't like about living in Oregon but VOTING is one of the things I love!  Several years ago we passed a ballot measure that makes ALL elections mail in.  There were great gloom and doom predictions - mostly to the tune of "if it is that easy to vote then "those people" will vote" .  It is so simple you just sit at the kitchen table read or re read the voter's pamphlet and mark your balllot and send it in - or drop it off at the designated places.  Oregon elections are fun - there … (0 comments)
