idaho eastern oregon: It's an "H" of a day in E Oregon. - 06/15/10 03:24 AM
Today at noon i put my clients wife in my car add a sign for a listing, and drive to Huntington Oregon (it's on the Oregon Trail near the Snake River).  Then I'll drive about 17 miles N (mostly unpaved) along the Snake River which then will be Brownlee Reservoir, then I'll turn W and head up a dirt road up hills to a ranch where I'll leave Marcella, and pick up some paperwork from her husband.  He is a cowboy, it's a working ranch with gorgeous scenery and views everywhere.   Like most cowboy jobs, it comes with housing furnished but … (0 comments)

idaho eastern oregon: Good Cheap Small Town Fun - 03/18/09 03:08 AM
One of the benefits of living in the Intermountain West is the ability to get away fast!  One hour in any direction from my home in Ontario Oregon and you are in the mountains!  However that's not where we went Sunday.  We were only a half hour from home.
We took our 4 wheeler and went looking for Love Reservoir.  We'd heard it mentioned for years knew vaguely where it was and had often talked about going there.
We Google mapped it earlier.  It is south of Huntington Oregon in the desert along the ORegon Trail.  The area has lots of "roads"  … (0 comments)

idaho eastern oregon: more in the business travails saga - 07/02/08 02:45 AM
Well yesterday am was filled with meetings.  2 hours owners meeting where we decided to offer our agents two choices ownership or the current split system whichever is right for them individually.  There were several other options discussed but we agreed on these two.  We'll all vote next week on whether we keep our franchise or not.  Seems to be leaning toward keeping it. Meanwhile back in the business of making money - two new lisitngs to input today, nagging aqbout a closing and nagging a lender on another deal are also ahead of me.  I have worked with enough lousy … (2 comments)

idaho eastern oregon: Headed for Desert Heaven - 05/22/08 02:21 PM
Tomorrow I am headed to Jordan Valley Oregon to show my listings there.  It'll be fun even though it's 75 miles from anywhere.  Most of Malheur county is federal land and Jordan Valley is an oasis in the middle of it.  Half of my roots are there.  My great great grandfather bought a ranch in 1864 and also with partners built a toll road between Jordan Valley and Silver City Idaho.  We;ve driven that road and it is Tough Terrain!  My forefathers and mothers did their best to uphold strict Presbyterian values in the wilderness.  The little area is home to … (0 comments)

idaho eastern oregon: MLS Rules and Bylaws Committee - 03/19/08 12:18 PM
Tomorrow I head for Boise for the monthly meeting of our MLS Rules and Bylaws committee.  I got on the committee initially because I thought the mls was way too restrictive.  Ooops  - I was wrong.  For every rule that's made, there are strange folks out there spending  multiple hours trying to circumvent the rules to benefit themselves.  You can't help but think that if those same hours were spent selling real estate they would earn more money.  I don't like the mindset that even thinks that way.  Co-operation sells houses, co-operation makes happier sellers and buyers who then turn into long … (1 comments)
