Who do you call when you remodel your home? - 07/24/07 10:36 AM
I was reading a real estate magazine today and a statistic caught my eye.
The National Association on Builders 2007 industry forecast states that Americans will spend $232 billion on home remodeling this year alone.  $228 billion was sent last year.  They are estimating a 1.9 percent increase from 2006.
By dollar volume, remodeling counts for more than 40% of the home construction industry.
However, next time you decide to start that remodel project, please call your Realtor.  If you are in the Greenville Pitt County area, I would love to assist you.  How much will your improvement project help your … (4 comments)

East Carolina Dentistry School Gets a Great Head Start - 07/20/07 02:52 PM
Much buzz has been going around this year about the possibility of a dentistry school to the already growing East Carolina Univeristy.  The Daily Refector had a great article today that I though was worth sharing.
This is the article that appeared in the Reflector's Website:

A planned dental school at East Carolina University will likely get some state funds this year, according to a trio of local lawmakers.
N.C. House and Senate budget writers have agreed to give ECU at least $15 million to continue planning the school, according to N.C. Reps. Marian McLawhorn, and Edith Warren, both … (0 comments)

Possible new Internet service carrier in Greenville - 07/19/07 04:23 PM
I just read this on Reflector.com.......maybe they can beat the phone company and cable company.
Greenville Utilities is looking at whether to provide customers with infrastructure for high-speed, broadband Internet, perhaps using technology that pipes the data over power lines.
Earlier this year, the city of Wilson announced plans to bring broadband service to residents through fiber-optic cable run into homes, said Tony Cannon, assistant general manager of Greenville Utilities.
That caught the attention of the utility's board of commissioners. The staff hired Greenville, S.C.-based Palmetto Engineering and Consulting to provide "an update on the market (for high-speed Internet) and what … (0 comments)

Great News From NAR Concerning Inventory and Sales - 07/13/07 09:00 AM
Although we are not seeing the slump in the Greenville market to the extent that some parts of the country are experiencing right now, it still hurts.
I think of one of my favorite internet clients.  He has a home to sell in California before he can relocate his family to the Greenville area.  I have been talking with him since early 2006.  Normally, I do not spend that much time with an Internet client.  Thery are usually here by six months in a new house and enjoying the community!
Therefore, I wanted to pass along to the citizens of Greenville this … (0 comments)

Underscoring NAR's mission to make homeownership viable for all Americans, I presented the donation on February 27, 2007 at the U.S. Capitol to Harry E. Johnson, Sr., president of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation. We were joined by Congressmen James Clyburn (D-S.C.) and John Lewis (D-Ga.). http://go-to.realtor.org/h/PNGOZ/OFB8S/9A/51GDG

Free Wings!!! - 07/11/07 01:14 PM
One of my favorite restaurants BW3's, which is short for Buffalo Wild Wings will be relocating.  The move will be from its small downtown building to a large new location at 426-B E. Arlington Boulevard in Arlington Shoppes, Arlington Shopes is near the corner of Greenville and Arlington boulevards across the parking lot from PetSmart.
The new manager said that the new location boasts 6100 square feet and is three times the size of the old location.
The entire restaurant is nonsmoking, and there is a dedicated area for curb-side carry-out and for placing take-out orders. The nonsmoking bar and dining … (1 comments)

Farmville NC Friends of the Public Library - 07/09/07 10:30 PM
Farmville's Friends of the Public Library had a very nice "exploratory" meeting tonight in the Davis Room.  Several board member and the public discussed ways to make the Friends Group better.
Various ideas came out of the meeting.  Mrs. Minnie Lee Winborn thought of a wonderful fundraiser.  We are going to explore selling Christmas trees this year!  Farmville has not had a place to purchase trees in a number of years.  Those could be preordered or purchased for sale.  More information on this will be coming soon! How great would it be to have a fresh tree from the North Carolina … (0 comments)

Always be nice when on "opportunity time!" - 07/03/07 06:49 PM
Was really bumed today....my mind was on Atlantic Beach.  My body was at RE/MAX Perferred in Greenville, North Carolina.
This lady came and asked for directions to the new East Carolina Bank on Portertown Road.  The secretary told her "I give horrible directions."
I proceeded to tell her how to get to her destination.  Told her the road, drew her a map.  As a last minute thought, I gave her my card and told her that if she felt lost to call me.  I will get her back in the right direction.
Little did I know, she got me back in … (10 comments)

i can FINALLY see the signs! My Freedom! - 07/03/07 12:17 PM
This post has nothing to do with real estate...but I just want to shout it to the world! I can see! No glasses and no contacts. My vision in 20/40. This is after laser vision surgery on Thursday. This is thanks to Dr. Charles Titone at Doctors Vision Center! I cannot wait to see the fireworks tommorow. Hoping I will be 20/20 by next week. Then comes the dreaded trip to the DMV... And what a better tax deduction!

Where did all the tractors go? - 07/02/07 09:05 PM
Reading in our local paper today that tobacco production was up in the state of North Carolina.  It seems as I ride around town, the farms are few and far between.  Pitt County ranked 6th in the state in 2006 with just half the farms before the "tobacco buyout."
That is how my husband made a living when I met him!  His family farmed in Farmville his entire life.
It is amaxing to ride past Pitt Memorial.  It is now smoke-free.  That means that all the smokers "hang out" on the sidewalk because it is considered DOT property.  It is great … (0 comments)
