honolulu: Oahu Median Sales Price up 8.6% - 02/14/12 01:44 PM
Oahu’s median sales price for homes jumped 8.6% in January to $618,900, which is the highest we’ve seen since September of 2010. Meanwhile, sales volume was down 12.1% from last year and its lowest since February of 2010, indicating signs of less inventory = higher prices. Oahu Condo Statistics On the condo front, the median price was also up 4.8% to $305,000 and sales volume was up just slightly at 1.9%. After 4 months of pending sales dropping in volume, they picked up significantly in January as I think both Realtors and Buyers are coming through on their New Year’s resolutions.

The Honolulu Marathon was another success yesterday. Here's a photo I shot as the leaders passed by Diamond Head on their way towards the finish. As you can see, it was still pitch black with the sun rising in the distance... For those that weren't running around 2 hours, there was some great Luxury Real Estate to View along the course.

honolulu: Does Housing Help the Economy or Does the Economy Help Housing? - 04/12/10 06:16 PM
If "the economy helps housing," Honolulu's housing market may be in for a rebound. According to an article in today's paper, Honolulu is ranked 6th in the nation for metro areas. The report was composed by the Brookings Institution. Coupled with low inventory, it will be interesting to see what happens. Will this drive our housing market or not? When the government money for first-time homebuyer credits is shut off at the end of this month, will housing slow and take the economy with it? Only time will tell...

honolulu: Honolulu Named One of Nation’s Best Places to Raise a Family - 11/17/09 03:42 PM
Children's Place Magazine recently wrote an article titled The 100 Best (and Worst) Places to Raise a Family and Honolulu ranked #7! I must say I'm not surprised. I was born and raised here and don't have much to complain about. Clean air, beautiful weather & the Aloha Spirit- what more could you ask for? Although our housing prices have traditionally been higher than national averages, the "price we pay to live in paradise" has been worth it.

honolulu: Honolulu's Gold Coast has a lot to Offer! - 09/14/09 03:57 AM
Just beyond Waikiki at the base of Diamond Head is Honolulu's "Gold Coast". The Gold Coast is the last strip of buildings at the end of Kalakaua Ave. across from Kapiolani Park. Unlike the "hustle & bustle" of Waikiki, the Gold Coast is a little more quiet. The buildings consist of: A few hotels such as The New Otani, The Diamond Head Beach Hotel (individually owned as condos) and The Lotus at Diamond Head (formerly a "W" hotel) Private Clubs such as the Elk's Club and the Outrigger Canoe Club The best oceanfront condos and co-ops on Oahu, the majority of

honolulu: Honolulu, HI has the Smallest Carbon Footprint Amount U.S. Cities According to Study - 12/16/08 06:34 PM
I recently read an article titled "What Carbon Studies Tell Us-So Far" in Urban Land Magazine. What caught my eye and was interesting was that Honolulu had the smallest carbon footprint among U.S. Cities, according to "Shrinking the Carbon Footprint of America" study published by the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. According to the study, Honolulu had 1,356 metric tons per Capita. Lexington, Kentucky was the highest with 3,455 per capita. What was also interesting was that Los Angeles was ranked 2nd behind Honolulu for the lowest. This is great news for us if the study is accurate! Are you surprised?

honolulu: April 2008 was Actually Pretty Great! - 05/12/08 04:39 PM
It is pretty typical in any residential real estate market across the country to see sales volume and activity pick up. A lot of buyers are out there looking in the Spring & Summer and this year was no different. I had 4 transactions close in April and almost 6 (2 closed March 31st). As far as the Honolulu, HI real estate market as a whole the month wasn't so bad either. The median sales price for a single family home was $639,000 and $327,000 for condos. In addition, days on market were back down to 43 days for homes & 33
