Central Indiana homes sales strong in second half of 2009 - 01/18/10 08:28 AM
Homes sales surged in the second half of 2009, with activity picking up initially in July, peaking in October, and running level in November and December, compared to 2008. More than 1,350 Central Indiana homes pended in December, with five of nine Central Indiana counties reporting increases compared to the same time period in 2008, according to pended sales statistics compiled by F.C. Tucker Company.

On my last post I talked about the 7 reasons to own your own home. I would like to expand on each point in that blog. The first point I've already talked about...the extended $8000 first-time homebuyers tax credit and the $6500 move-up buyer tax credit.
 
I would like to focus on the second point - appreciation. Real estate has long-term, stable growth in value. While year-to-year fluctuations are normal, median existing-home sale prices have increased on average 6.5 percent each year from 1972 through 2005 according to the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
