Average home price: $381,500
Year-over-year home price change: +1%
12-month home price forecast: +2%
These suburbs of Washington, D.C., have benefited from a surge in government hiring. Leisure and hospitality jobs are up, too, giving this area a low 5.2% unemployment rate. While prices did slide 18% from the peak in fourth quarter 2006, they are projected to rise steadily in the next three years.
