My area of specialty in Santa Barbara is the Samarkand Neighborhood, rich in history and a wonderful place to live.  Samarkand means "Land of Heart's Desire" in Persian and we are lucky to have The Samarkand of Santa Barbara as part of our diverse neighborhood.    The following article was written by John Hall, who works for The Samarkand of Santa Barbara.

Montecito Wastewater Outflow Meets State Standards - 01/12/10 04:17 PM
As reported in the Daily Sound," a 2-year study of a wastewater outflow site off the cost of Montecito has determined that bacteria levels in the area are within state standards, according to Heal the Ocean. "
 

The study was funded by a state grant in the amount of $330,000, and monitored the water off Butterfly Beach, near the Biltmore Hotel in Montecito. Hilary Hauser, director of the non-profit Heal the Ocean http://www.healtheocean.org/, was impressed with the job the Montecito Sanitary District is doing in treating waste water.
