germantown nashville: So you want a loft in Werthan Mills? - 03/20/11 09:55 AM
There's not a lot of them listed these days. Why is that? 'Cause most of the owners just downright LOVE living in this amazing historic converted factory and wouldn't WANT to sell. They've got the best farmer's market - The Nashville Farmer's Market the best hot dog shop - Zackie's Original Hot Dogs three of the best restaurants - Germantown Cafe, The Mad Platter, City House the best home cookin' - Monell's the best chocolate shop - The Cocoa Tree the best coffee shop - Drink Haus the best dry cleaners - Germantown Cleaners and, let's not forget...THE BEST CUPCAKES -

germantown nashville: Something for Everyone in Werthan Lofts - 07/22/09 01:23 PM
Many new buyers are learning about a loft enclave in Germantown that is unlike most in Nashville. Some say Werthan Lofts could be right at home in New York or Chicago! It's part of the appeal for over 200 residents in this converted factory that still looks like an industrial complex as you drive by on Rosa Parks Blvd. For the past 2 years, throughout a real estate slump, sales in Werthan have remained strong - perhaps as a result of the architectural originality OR the affordability OR the convenient, walkable neighborhood OR the spectacular pool and outdoor areas throughout the gated

germantown nashville: Conserve Water! Conserve Money! - 03/22/09 07:49 PM
Many Nashville condo owners, affected by the recent economy and facing possible Home Owner Association dues increase in the new year, may feel helpless to turn the tide of rising expenses. In fact, that's not so. The dues ‘tide' is composed of many ‘droplets'. Together they swell to form cumulative HOA expenses - fees like building insurance, common area electricity, landscaping, pet services, window cleaning, water and more. Jeff Barry, filmmaker and host of the Mayor's Green Ribbon Council helps us to see in his movie, Kilowatt Ours, just how much control we individuals have over the costs of our community

germantown nashville: A Modern Edge to Germantown - 10/14/08 06:11 PM
Technically the north side of Hume Street is Salemtown. The dividing line on the community plan is in the middle of the street that separates the old Werthan Bag Factory from the homes on Hume Street. That's why I refer to this latest project as 'the modern edge'. For some years now, the few options for the modern buyer in this area were the condo communities of Summer Street Lofts and Morgan Park Place. Although there are many single family homes with a decidedly modern flair on the inside, the historic zoning requirements of Historic Germantown have discouraged the modern

germantown nashville: A Different View of the the 'Projects' - 03/15/08 09:40 AM
I got an interesting call from another agent this week that got me thinking...thus, also got me blogging. She was working with a client who found a great loft at Werthan Mills (the same condos, coincidentally, where I have lived since 2006). He loved the place! But not the view. He was concerned that the unit he was considering looked out over a Metro Nashville Development Authority Housing Community, Cheatham Place. Looking out on that community made him feel guilt. Guilt that he had so much and that the people he was looking down at did not. I was touched. Touched that
