social media networking: Thankful - 11/20/09 10:01 AM
Every year at this time of year we all start talking about the things we are thankful for and how much we love our families etc. This year is no exception. I was looking at my facebook page and reading many of the post talking about what they are thankful for. I even responded to a post about what was the most memorable Thanksgiving for you. After doing that I looked on my Twitter page to see if there was anything I should read about the there it was....South Carolina Unemployment rate now 12.1%. It hit me like a ton of

social media networking: OMG!!!! NOT IN THERE!!!!!! - 09/03/09 09:03 AM
On Tuesday I had something happen to me that hasn't happened in sometime. In order to do the story justice I must start from the beginning. Upon returning from my son's baseball practice which started right at 5:00pm I was helping him get his trash out of my car. I am probably too "Monkish" about trash in my car but we all have our quirks, that one is mine. When I opened the trash can and let go of the trash I realized a second TOO LATE I let go of my Blackberry Bold and down the trash can it went

social media networking: School's out for Summer - 06/05/09 11:41 AM
Oh yea, School's out for Summer.....reminds me of Alice Cooper and that great song he did that never gets old. Today when I was going to lunch I had to stop for a school bus. The bus was unloading a bunch of kids and as the kids unloaded I was surprised that over half of them stopped and gave the bus driver a hug. Everyone was full of smiles and I couldn't help but remember the time when I was a kid. My wife would say I still act like one at times and maybe she is right

social media networking: I fell, but I could get up - 05/13/09 09:20 AM
Today is the first time in weeks I have posted a blog on ActiveRain. What happened? I am not sure why it has been so long but for me I have to "feel" something in order to write. I am not the most creative person you have ever meant and in fact I would say it would be fair to characterize me as introverted. Today thought, I have the "feeling" so I am back...at least for a little while. HAVE A GREAT DAY Kevin M. Breeland General Manager Residential Mortgage of South Carolina, LLC 427 Johnnie Dodds Rd. social media networking: Character....we all have it - 04/17/09 09:04 AM
As I look back on this week I keep reflecting on a few events that defined my week. When I give this week a closer look the week is filled with moments of pride and failure. Let me explain. As I have stated in other blogs, my son, who will be 12 in May, is playing baseball for the first time ever in his life. As it turns out, it appears that he is a natural at it. That is great. His team is made of mainly 6th graders, most go to his school, and they are playing other teams

Well, I'm back and no I did not get left on the side of the road. How, well I guess I was better behaved this time......so about the trip. Well, the trip consisted of 1875 miles, leaving Mount Pleasant, SC of Saturday April 4th at 5:30pm...yea kind of a late start. First night was in North Carolina, then on Sunday we made it to Washington, DC. From Sunday night to Wednesday Afternoon we were in DC. We left DC on Wednesday afternoon headed west through Maryland and into West Virginia. Spent the night in Charleston, WV and then started

social media networking: Has the Government taken over Social Media Networking? - 03/27/09 10:32 AM
What the &^%* is going on? Have you noticed your ActiveRain, Twitter, Facebook. Linkedin, BrokerAgentSocial, all of the Social Media Networking you might belong too seem a little glitchy to you lately? Mine has...in the last two weeks I have had to email ActiveRain about my updates not being updated, Twitter just went off a few minutes ago and has been acting strong for the last week, Facebook...what can you say about that, Linkedin has been lets say less than dependable, and BrokerAgentSocial has been slow to say the least. So to whomever out there is in charge, you

social media networking: A smile says it all - 03/16/09 10:26 AM
A smile says it all...no matter what the topic you know everything is well when you see a smile. I have written in the past about my dad and the lessons in life he has passed on. Although my dad is a very intelligent man, he did not do this alone. My mom was there also and she passed on many valuable lessons as well. My mom, and she probably won't like me telling you this, is 81 years old. Growing up with her as a mom was great, she stayed home with us, everything she cooked was home

social media networking: Ol' School, New Technology, or In Between - 03/11/09 08:39 AM
Do you develop your business Ol' School, using New Technology, or somewhere In Between? I like to consider myself a "tweener". What do I mean by that, let me explain. If you are like me there is a certain amount of comfort with face to face when developing a relationship. You have the opportunity to see "body language" (remember all the seminars you attended to learn body language) and of course for me I get a better "feel" for the meeting. If you are New Tech person then you are going to prefer email, Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Activerain, BrokerAgentSocial,

social media networking: Day Five of I'm Here - 03/06/09 07:43 AM
Today is day five and my last day here in Mart at dad's. I will leave tomorrow morning and start the journey back. Of course I am going to take pictures on the way back and will write on final blog about my journey but today is the last day here. For those of you who have followed I hope this has been a little interesting. Of course, I guess it would be arrogant of me to think anyone has been following, after all it is just a trip to my dad's...not unlike 1000's of trips people take to their parents

social media networking: Day Four of I'm Here - 03/05/09 04:23 PM
Remember this tree....I told yesterday we were going to tackle it today...well we did and here it the site now: Seems like an easy task, right? Not with this: That's right.....a bow saw. Three truck loads later those two trees were on the brush pile...in the country you have a pile for everything: The three large trunks you see came from the two trees. You see, since you only have a bow saw you cut it up as best you can then make the pieces as big as you can possibly pick up...I have to confess two

social media networking: Day Three of I'm Here - 03/04/09 08:42 PM
Let me start with a picture of Mart, Tx as you see it coming into town. This view is looking east, Waco would be about 19 miles behind you. As you can see barely the silo's in the background tells you Mart is a farming and cattle town. After doing some work this morning I took off to the Golf Course. When I was a kid Battle Creek Golf Course was Mart Golf Course, 9 holes with sand, yes I said sand, greens. Today, Battle Lake Golf Course, http://www.battlelakegolf.com/, is an 18 hole course with a practice facility, nicely done.

social media networking: Day Two of I'm Here - 03/03/09 01:42 PM
Let me start with something I hope you will enjoy. This was the sunset at the Farm last night. It was a beautiful sunset with the big beautiful sky in different colors. To me, this is one of things that makes growing up in Texas special. Today required a trip into Waco because I failed to renew my perscriptions before I left Mount Pleasant, SC. Into Belmead, a small community bordering Waco, dad and I went to get my refills. Well, while we are there, dad does some light grocery shopping, I got my perscriptions refilled

social media networking: Day One of I'm Here - 03/02/09 05:30 PM
Oh, Sunrise in Mart, Tx. From this view it really doesn't look any different that any other place. The difference, this is where I grew up and this picture was taken from the frontyard. This is the same town my Dad grew up in, his dad grew up here. Family history in Mart goes back to 1870's when they migrated here from Mississippi. Lots of Breelands in Mississippi, and they came from, yes you guessed it, South Carolina by way of North Carolina. The trail goes somewhat cold after that. With any small town anywhere in the County the town

social media networking: I'm Here - 03/01/09 09:58 PM
Don't try this at home....well, I'm here. I arrived today at my dad's house about 2:00pm CST in Mart, Tx. Of course it was great to see him and he certainly seemed to be happy to see me. That is a key componant for a good visit. Texas State Line Mississippi Welcome Center Alabama Welcome Center As you can see I traveled a long way...1133 miles from my driveway to my dad's house. Now it wasn't solid driving, I did stop for gas twice, spent Saturday night and Sunday morning with at daughter's home in Shreveport, Dave got up

social media networking: On the Road Again - 02/27/09 01:59 PM
Tomorrow morning I start out on a 1130 mile journey to my dad's house. My dad is 75 years old and had some surgery in January. Overall he is in good health but I try to see him as often as I can as I understand our time together is limited. There isn't much to do in the town I grew up in where my dad still lives. In fact, most of the businesses along the main drag are now closed as people like myself moved away and haven't come back. Around town there of signs of yesteryear, how things used

social media networking: It was television at one time - 02/25/09 01:33 PM
It was television at one time, but now it is not. What am I talking about? Relationship building and the use of Social Media Networking. One of my favorite shows on television is NCIS. I think one of the reasons I enjoy it so much is the show does a very good job, in my opinion, of developing the characters. It got me to think about how television is really evolving into Social Media Networking. Now I know there will be many of you who will disagree but stay with me just a moment and I will explain myself.

social media networking: WE were "Juiced" now our records mean nothing - 02/24/09 09:46 AM
WE were "Juiced" now our records mean nothing.......is that really true? No, I am not talking about baseball and baseball players on Steroids...I am talking about the Mortgage Industry and almost Free Money with NO DOCUMENTATION. Needless to say we have seen major changes in Credit Requirements, FICO score requirements, Underwriting requirements, you name it almost every aspect of the Mortgage Business has changed in the last 17 months. I am not going to lie to you, my income has fallen and I would imagine most people in the mortgage business that would be an accurate statement for most. For others, they are

social media networking: You can't make them drink - 02/17/09 10:10 AM
I don't remember how old I was the first time I heard "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink". I am not even sure where it originated, who said first, etc. The good news, or maybe not, this is not about horses....or is it? What I know about horses would not fill a thimble. At 6 years old outside of El Paso, Tx where we lived at the time I was thrown from a horse and I remember the thump I felt when I hit the ground. Then, when I was 16 and now
