DAY 210: Bonney Lake Lake Tapps Livin~365 Things to do
It’s that time of year, moms and dads everywhere are saying, already??? sending our little one to Kindargarten? I remember those days, be prepared for that bittersweet day next September.
Kindergarten Registration!!!
The Sumner School District offers full-time and part-time kindergarten classes. Part-time students attend school all day on Mondays, Tuesdays and alternating Wednesdays (Red kindergarten) OR all day on Thursdays, Fridays and alternating Wednesdays (Blue kindergarten). Some elementary schools offer a tuition-based, full-time program on a space available basis for children who qualify. Full-time kindergarten students attend school every day and have the same school calendar as students in grades 1-5. Students enrolled in full-time kindergarten receive extra instruction time to learn basic skills for first grade. All children enrolled in the full-time program must qualify through participation in a screening process held later in the spring.
Full-time Kindergarten Rates Registration Deposit (applied to June tuition): $100 Full Pay Monthly Tuition: $325
All children enrolling for kindergarten for the coming school year must be five years old by August 31, prior to the start of school. When registering a child for school, families should bring:
- Proof of child’s birth date (birth or hospital certificate, passport);
- Immunization information and child’s health history; and
- Names and phone numbers of parents, physician, and an emergency contact.
Families should contact their neighborhood school for registration information, or download a packet from the District Web site. Completed registration forms should be returned to the neighborhood school.

The Sumner Police Department is once again partnering with local businesses and individuals to assist families in need this holiday season through the Sumner Toy Box program. Starting now, you can bring new toys to City Hall for any age (up to 18) or a monetary donation that officers will use to buy toys and other items needed. Sumner Police are working with the Sumner-Bonney Lake Family Center to match toy donations with the wishes and needs of local boys and girls in Sumner who otherwise likely won’t receive a gift.
The City Hall Toy Box will be open for donations Monday-Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. Toys should be new and unwrapped. “Elves” who can’t make it during those times may contact Records Clerk Sherrie Duggan at (253) 299-5662 or Officer Loren Houselog at (253) 255-6454 to schedule a special appointment to deliver donations. Donations must be received by December 23, 2011, in order to make it to homes in time for the holidays. Monetary donations are also accepted.
Donors wanting their dollars to be shared in the Sumner community should bring donations to the Sumner Police Department or mail them to Sumner Police Guild, attn: Toy Box, 1104 Maple Street, Sumner, WA 98390.
Those knowing a family in need who may want to participate or wanting to set up a satellite collection site at their business should also contact Ms. Duggan or Officer Houselog. The Sumner Toy Box is operated by the Sumner Police Department in partnership with the Sumner-Bonney Lake Family Center, East Pierce Fire & Rescue and Toys for Tots

DAY 204: Bonney Lake Lake Tapps Livin~365 Things to do
Hello all and Happy Thursday to you. I hope your day is going well. We just arrived home from swimming lessons and are now going to snuggle and watch Christmas movie. I feel so fortunate to be able to give to my children and treat them to a fun filled December. There are so many unfortunate kiddos out there, I think Ben Franklin Crafts in Bonney Lake is doing a tremendous job with their Giving Tree.

The Giving Tree – View VIDEO The Giving Tree is decorated with tags that represent a child in our community, boy or girl, with their age and toy request. Select a tag and return the unwrapped donation to the store to receive a beautiful key ornament with the quote “A giving heart unlocks the true meaning of Christmas” as a thank you gift for your generosity.
Help them grant the wishes of each child to make this Christmas a memorable one.
