The weather in Augusta, Georgia is getting warmer, the azaleas and dogwoods are beginning to bloom - the signs of spring time are all around. That can only mean one thing - the 2008 Masters is almost upon us!

As usual there have been several changes to Augusta National Golf Club for this year's Masters although, they are not as substantial as the most recent changes. One of the first changes many of the 2008 Masters Patrons will notice is the moving of the main parking lot to the west side of Berkman Road in preparation for the construction of the new practice facilities on the old parking lot that will run parallel to Washington Road. The new practice facility will be open in time for the 2010 Masters and will add much needed length to the driving range.

Perhaps even more significant to visitors to the Augusta area this year is the major road construction projects in the area. The Georgia Department of Transportation is currently in the middle of a two year major construction project that involves I-20 from the Dyess Parkway/Belair Road exit 194 all the way to the Riverwatch Parkway exit 200. I-520 (Bobby Jones Expressway) from the Wheeler Road exit extending almost to Washington Road is the location of the biggest changes.Augusta National Clubhouse photo at dawn

The I-20 is currently being widened from Jimmy Dyess/Belair Road (exit 194) to Washington Road (exit 199). There are also changes to the interchanges located at the I-20/Riverwatch Parkway exit, the I-20/Washington Road exit and most significantly the I-20/I-520 exit. A new fly over is being constructed at the I-20/I-520 and there are two off ramps that are currently closed.

The construction on I-520/Bobby Jones Expressway is location of the work that will cause the most delays. You will want to avoid the area of Bobby Jones Expressway from the Wheeler Road exit to just beyond the Scott Nixon Road area.

If you are lucky enough to have tickets, make sure you are patient and please be sure to drive safely! If you are not fortunate enough to have tickets, then enjoy the tournament on your television.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Augusta for the 2008 Masters Golf Tournament!

We have this little golf tournament coming up in Augusta before long.

I was watching television over the weekend and they were doing promo ads for the 2008 MASTERS. Every year it seems there are 2 or 3 articles in the national press taking cheap shots at my hometown of Augusta, Georgia by reporters that probably have seen very little of the city and know very little about Augusta other than what is going on at Augusta National Golf Course every year in April.

I decided to do a communty show on my virtual tour site to use with out of town buyers to show them a little of what we have to offer.

Enjoy...
