Whether or Not Pigs Are Flying Out His A$$, Sometimes Even a Weiner Can Get Something Right - 01/20/10 05:11 PM
I rarely agree with anything Congressman Anthony Weiner, D-NY, has to say about politics. But when asked about Brown's victory over Coakely, he had this to say. In case you don't want to watch the 34 second youtube video, here is a transcript of it: They’re talking as if, like “what our deals are, what our negotiations are at the White House.” Yeah, and the last line is, “Pigs fly out of my ass,” or something like that. I mean, you know, it’s just, it’s just — we’ve got to recognize that we’ve got an entirely different scenario … When (15 comments)
University of Georgia Ranks in Kiplinger's Top 10 Best Values for 2009-2010 - 01/19/10 03:43 PM
For the second year in a row Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine has rated the University of Georgia in it's top 10 values for colleges and universities in the U.S. This year, UGA has been rated # 6. It joins 3 other colleges in Georgia on the list of Kiplinger's To 100 Best Values for 2009/2010. To determine the rankings Kiplinger uses a combination of academic, cost and financial aid criteria for both in state and out of state students. Academics count for almost 2/3 of the ranking. Greater Athens Area Residential Real Estate Monthy Statistics Charts, June - Dec. 2009 - 01/19/10 09:16 AM
The following charts show the month to month residential real estate sales volume of the Greater Athens Ga metropolitan area for the months of June through December 2009. Chart 1 shows the trends for both the number of residential units sold and the average number of Days on Market (D.O.M.) for those units. December shows a decrese in the residential home sales volume. This should not come as a surprise. There was a rush to close sales by Nov. 30, 2009 to qualify for the first time home buyers tax credit, which has since been extended. Additionally, sales seasonally decline duringthe winter months. 7.0 Earthquake in Haiti - They Desperately Need Our Help - 01/13/10 08:53 AM
Yesterday Haiti sufferred a 7.0 earthquake. Thousands are dead. Up to 3 million people are estimated to have been severely affected by this event, homes destroyed, services interrupted, etc. The private citizens of America have always been generous with their time and their money when such disasters have occured. I know that times here may be tough for many, but please, let's show the world that the private citizens of the United States are still the most compassionate, still the most giving when others need our help as the result of disasters like this. Whether its, $5, $10, $25 or $thousands, (18 comments)
According to Gallup, Most Americans Classify Themselves as Conservative - 01/07/10 07:51 PM
In recently released data, Gallup states that the largest plurality of Americans classify themselves as Conservate, 40%, while the smallest number classify themselves as liberal, 21%. The rest classify themselves as Moderate. The percentage growth of those calling themselves conservative came at the expense of both moderates and liberals (which dropped from 22% to 21% from 2008 to 2009). The complete article, as well as several interesting graphs, can be found here. While the article does not analyze the reasons for this, I do have my own theories. The number of those calling themselves conservative fell during the final 3 years (25 comments)
