2013 Sarasota Chalk Festival - Legacy of Valor.  The 6th Annual Sarasota Chalk Festival ran from November 13 through 18 this year and attracted 500 artists from around the world.  This annual festival has grown each year and is very unique to the Sarasota Area.

6th Annual Sarasota Chalk Festival - Another Successful Year!  Artists gathered and began their creations for this year's Sarasota Chalk Festival on November 13th.  Chalk art or street painting goes back hundreds of years and has been an annual event in Sarasota since 2007.  The annual event draws up to 200,000 thousand visitors to the Burns Square Area of Sarasota.

2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival, A Blazing Circus Of Colors!  The 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival has come to an end after another highly successful year.  I feel so grateful to be living in such a wonderful city as Sarasota and be able to attend such a creative and inspiring event.  The 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival is just one of very many, many cultural events in this art loving city.

Sarasota Chalk Festival finishes with a flair!  The weather was perfection on Sunday, November 6, 2011 as the artists put their finishing touches on their magnificent creations at the Sarasota Chalk Festival.  These ephemeral works of art are breathtaking and heartbreaking all at the same time.  The hard work and creativity poured into these beautiful paintings on the asphalt of Pineapple, Dolphin and Oak Avenues were washed away by a team of pressure washers Monday evening after a final day the streets were closed to allow visitors to appreciate these treasures one more time.

Sarasota Chalk Festival, Day Four, The Excitement Is Building!  As the Sarasota Chalk Festival enters day four the crowds are getting thicker.  Pineapple Avenue is now blocked off all the way down to Orange Avenue and the 2-D artists have begun to create their works.  The 3-D artists have been working since Tuesday.  New this year is the vertical art and Cellograff.  The Sarasota Opera set appears complete and ready for performances on their "chalk" stage this coming Sunday.

Sarasota Fourth Annual Chalk Festival in progress.  This week there are 250 artists from all over the world in Sarasota for the Fourth Annual Chalk Festival.  The theme this year is "Pavement Art Through The Ages".  The asphalt pavement on Pineapple Avenue between Ringling Boulevard and Orange Avenue is their canvas.  The headquarters for the festival is in downtown Sarasota in Historic Burns Square.
"We'll be offering world-class art by world-renowned artists, including several pioneers in 3-D pavement art," says Denise Kowal, festival chair.
