Wednesday May 26th, 2010 Four Hundred students took part in a career fair event. Hosted by the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Greenbrier East & West High School Students and Greenbrier County Schools and the Sate Fair Event Center. The event took place in the Underwood Building at the State Fair Event Center. Students started arriving around 8:15 am and were there until 12:30 to participate in the event. The event will kick off on Thursday the 24th at the Ivy Terrace with a performance by Pot O' Chilli. On Firday the 25th, will feature Bob Thompson Unit for a evening performance. The big event will take place on Saturday the 26th. Some of the events will be a car show, and a BBQ will be held at 1:30 pm. Scholarships Available for Wind Turbine Program - 05/20/10 08:56 PM
Dabney S. Landcaster Community College (DSLCC) and New River Community and Techincal College are offering the wind turbine program for turbing technician jobs. This is provided by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. With the developing green technology and the wind tubing and renewable energy industrires in our area the class will be offered in West Virginia & Virginia.
Currently five scholarships are available for West Virginia students to enroll in the program. The scholarships will cover out-of state-tuition for West Virginia students unitl the course will be offered at the New River Technical Collage in Lewisburg. (1 comments)
The warm weather is here and "Third Thursdays" is in full swing! This is the time everyone has been waiting ror after our long winter. Come out and enjoy the great evening and events for the whole family. Starting @5 PM to 8 PM the downtown will be a buzz with people enjoying our great little town. Planned merchants to participate in the evening events are Gillispie's Flowers & Productions, Kittens Corner, Styles & Profiles and along with Lisa Campbell Interiors. The White Sulphur Springs Library will host a teen poetry workshop @ 7 PM.

If you are from White Sulphur Springs, and you want to show your age. The Buzz In convenience store is a blast from the past for us old timers! That is if you can remember back that far! For years the very first modern convenience store was just on the corner of Main Street and Mountain Avenue. I'm sure if you can remember the store in its orginial location, you also remember going and getting slurpy's and ice cream and candy. It was quite an item when the old Green Devils Jr. High was in town, all of us kids (1 comments)
The Last Station May 10th 2010(Monday) the film series from Carnegie Hall Continues. The progam will begin @ 7 pm, this production will be seen at the Lewis Theater. Located just off Court Street in Downtown Lewisburg. This Historical Drama about the final year of Leo Tolstoy's life. The cast incudes Christopher Plummer,Dame Helen Mirren, both are Golden Globe,Oscar, and SAG nominations for thier work in the film. The film has great drama and the great russian novelist has renounced his noble title, property and his family in the favor of poverty and celibacy. Come out (0 comments)
The Greenbrier County Commission awarded $386,525 in arts and recreation grants this month. The money for the grants, which are given annually, comes from hotel/motel tax revenue.A committee whose membership comes from various areas of the county meets each year to examine the funding requests to ascertain if they meet the parameters set forth in state code for the expenditure of bed tax funds and then weigh the projects against the money available.Greenbrier Valley Theatre and Carnegie Hall, both arts hubs located in Lewisburg, received $40,000 each, while the county's six libraries will split $85,000 according to a formula (0 comments)
