The 4th annual Greenbrier Valley Wheels of Hope, sponsored by the Greenbrier Valley Bicycle Club. Will take place Lewisburg and end back in Lewisburg. There will be three routes availalbe 21, 56, & 86 miles for those who participant. The event was a great success last year with 123 riders from all over the country, it also raised $12,000.00.
The event proceeds fgo toward cancer survivorship. Part of the proceeds go the Lukemia and Lymphoma Society but the remainder stays in the Greenbrier Valley for patients fighting the disease. Offering them gifts of hope and support and (0 comments)
The event will also feature a Program on Friday night at the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center. The program will be in the Ware Room starting @ 7:30 PM. Speakers will be presenting a program on "invasive plants".

Wellspring of the Greenbier, Inc is a non-profit organization that assist the working poor, homeless, transient and other people living in poverty throughtout Greenbrier County. The staff and workers are volunteer agency with no paid staff. The organization was founded by Fred & Scarlett Kellerman, who started the effort out of their automobile. In 2006 they moved into the present location in Rupert, just across from the Rupert city hall. Since they have open their doors the facility and staff helps over 4,000 +/- people a year. They offer a number of progams for 2009/2010 from adapot-a-family, Appliance and Pick-up delivery, (0 comments)

The Annual Fish Dinner at the Saint Charles Catholic Church is once again part of the Lent Fridays. This event is brought to you by the Alleghany Councel Knights of the Columbus. The event will go now until March 26, 2010 and all are welcome. The event offers both fried or baked fish dinners for sale. I don't know about you but there are some things that I guess you just take for granted. With all the bad weather we have been having this year and all the snow. You kind of get tired of the daily and it has been almost daily cleaning or shoveling of snow. But you better take some additional time for your car or truck to remove the snow from it before you get on the road. You can be pulled over for not removing the snow or not removing enough snow from your windshield. If you don't get all the (1 comments)
community: The Covered Bridges of Greenbrier County - 03/04/10 10:12 PM
No it is not the latest romantic movie out of Hollywood. It is true we have two historic covered bridges in Greenbrier County. They are some of the true gems of our beautiful countryside. Both bridges are listed on the National Historic Registure and one is still in use today, allowiing vehicles to drive through the unique structure.
Herns Mill Bridge is located just out of Lewisburg. Erected in 1879 Herns Mill Bridge is a 54-foot long covered bridg. It spans Milligans Creek about four miles from Lewisburg. This bridge is a queenpost truss design bridge and there seems to (3 comments)
West Virginia: Cash For Appliances Information. West Virginia is planning a rebate program this spring to help residents replace older, inefficient appliances with energy-efficient appliances. The state will offer mail-in rebates toward the purchase of Energy Star-qualified appliances. The program is tentatively scheduled to begin in April and will end in February 2012, or when funds are depleted. Eligible appliances are as follows: •· Dishwashers •· Refrigerators •· Freezers •· Clothes washers •· Room air conditioners Consumers can increase rebate amounts for some appliances by purchasing models that are more efficient than the current Energy Star level. I don't know about you but every once in a while something just hits you like a load of bricks and you think why didn't I think of that? I recently ran across this great campaign that is now nationwide and I think it is absoluelty great. I know things are hard for just about everyone these days and to me this is a great way to support your local community and most importantly local retailers. Everyone is looking for something that will contribute to help the situation get better and to me this is a great way to support the (0 comments)
