Pulte Homes agrees to buy Centex in $1.3B deal

In a deal that will create the nation's biggest homebuilder, Pulte Homes Inc. is buying Centex Corp. for $1.3 billion in stock as both companies try to survive the worst real estate recession in a generation.
The transaction, which also includes $1.8 billion of debt, will combine Pulte's strength in active-adult and retirement housing with Centex's hefty market share of first-time homebuyers.

I heard some gurgling sounds coming from my sink yesterday morning, so I put in a call to my plumber and hadn't heard from him as of this morning, but he is good at what he does, very affordable and reliable, so always worth the wait. But i was afraid of going through the Holiday with possible drainage backups...
Anyhow, fast forward to this morning... While enjoying a nice bowl of frosted mini wheats, I hear a gurgle..(pause)...and then flowing sounds coming from the kitchen...
YAHT-ZEE... Drainage backup and we have struck oil... in my kitchen!

This winter, No Frozen Pipes!! A single water pipe can easily create thousands of dollars in property damage. The easiest way to prevent this is to have a property that is fully occupied with responsible tenants, all of which have utilities in the tenant's name and heat set above 50 degrees in every unit.
Preventative Maintenance helps!
Heat wrap insulated tape on exposed water pipes can help.
Also, make sure to use insulated expanding foam to fill any building leaks that allow air or moisture into building or near piping.
Avoid Frozen Pipes!
