surf: Dude! Surf's UP!!! Makapu'u and Sandy Beach, EAST Shore Oahu, Honolulu, Hawaii - 01/07/07 02:37 AM

When I read the paper this morning, there was no mention of impending high surf on the South Shore of Oahu. Not that I was looking for it since winter months are the time for Oahu's North Shore to shine whether it be the Triple Crown of Surfing, or Eddie Aikau Big Wave International Surf Contests. Granted Eddie Aikau's contest takes place when the waves are 20+ feet or more.... but it sure was big for the South Shore today!

Bye bye Ms. American Pie. Drove my Chevy to the levee and the levee was dry. may be what you are listening to on your iPod as you get your Don Mclean on. Leaving the Continental US can be an angst ridden, snake pit in the belly of your stomach feeling, as you first venture into the unknown. surf: Life on a Rock... Part 1 (6 part series) - 11/02/06 03:39 AM

On the island of Oahu we have a 122 miles of shoreline around our island. Our average temperature is 85 degrees year round and our biggest insect is a cockroach. My favorite creature in Hawaii is a Gecko and it looks nothing like the Geico gecko. My island is comprised of many different enthnicities and is one of the most remarkable melting pots in the United States. We have some of the best water quality in the world and the cleanest air around due to the tradewinds that keep our island breezes flowing.
