fire fighter: Verrado's New Fire Station

The Verrado development, in the west valley, 25 miles from downtown Phoenix, will be getting a state-of-the-art fire station. The new location, on Verrado Way and Thomas Road will serve to protect the 1600 home community (14,000 homes projected at build out) along with the I-10 corridor, future businesses and the newly planned Banner Hospital and medical complex. The Verrado community is in the City of Buckeye which received a $3.5 million dollar federal grant to build the new fire station. The expected cost is $4.4 million dollars. The title of Chris Elizabeth Griffith's post Just Because Someone's Holding A Hose , Does That Make Them A Firefighter? caught my eye. I'm an active duty firefighter and an active duty realtor.
Do you ever see those people on ESPN with a garden hose, standing precariously on their roof, flames in the background, shooting water at who knows what? I'm sure one thought crossing their mind is, "I can do it, I can save this home..... fire fighters do it every day". Inspired by Karen Hurst's recent post "What Is Your Thing", at http://activerain.com/blogs/research22 , I thought I would select a subject that would take my thing "Firefighting" and consolidate it with "Real Estate". Initially I thought it might be difficult to merge sort of one career with another like saving lives and selling homes. These sort of feel like completely different things.
