naperville real estate: Finishing up a busy day at my favorite Starbucks... - 12/22/21 02:45 PM
Good afternoon!  I sit here, at my favorite Naperville Starbucks, at the very best seat in the house… My feet up on the table in front of me, I have a large coffee, a water, and some note cards all begging for my attention… “All in due time,” I say aloud to the inanimate objects that I have on the table in front of me… Half expecting an answer or an objection from my coffee, I decide to please my hot drink and take a sip… Mmmm. Delicious and warm on a cold late afternoon in December… What a day it has been. It feels so … (5 comments)

naperville real estate: The paths that we are on... - 12/20/21 04:57 AM
Good morning!!I woke this morning thinking about the paths that we are on…I woke early. Just a few minutes before 5 am….I woke from a deep sleep. I woke, not in a panic, but feeling relaxed….So rather than jump out of my bed, ready to start my day as is often my habit, I chose to lay in that relaxation. Enjoy it. Let it cover me in peace, just like the warm blanket I had covering my body…And during that relaxation, I started thinking about paths…There are all sorts of paths in this world…Paths through the woods. Windy paths. Paths that … (1 comments)

naperville real estate: A challenging Monday morning in Naperville... - 12/28/20 06:46 AM
Good morning…7:47 AM. Monday morning December 28th…I woke this morning feeling down…Not depressed, necessarily. But certainly with a bit of sadness and loss of hope. A distinct lack of joy has taken over my being…What does my day hold? It is, after all, Monday morning, the start of a new week…A day for appointments. For handshakes. For hugs. For smiles…But not this year. Maybe not next year. Maybe never again…The days of my week blur together as if in some scene from the Twilight Zone…Will today be different from yesterday? From tomorrow?Probably not. I have no where to go. No experiences … (8 comments)

naperville real estate: A presidential debate gone wrong maybe, just maybe, can unite us... - 09/30/20 06:47 AM
Good morning!!
I woke up several times during the night feeling despondent…
I had spent an hour and a half of the previous evening watching the Presidential Debate, a debate I had been looking forward to for several days…
As I sat in front of my TV last night, I watched two men that should be the best our country has to offer, and I couldn’t help feeling ashamed…
“How did it come to this?” I wondered…
Certainly a sign of the times. A sign of the division and hatred that seems to exist today in our country…
Oh how did it come … (0 comments)

naperville real estate: A love story with a happy ending in Naperville, Illinois... - 09/17/20 12:42 PM
Good afternoon!!
As many of you know, my first marriage ended about 8 years ago…
The following years were very difficult for me. I experienced loneliness. Depression. An overwhelming feeling of lost identity…
For many years, I had thought of myself a happily married father of two beautiful girls. But then my life was turned upside down, and I didn’t know who I was or where I was going…
These were dark times for me. Dark indeed…
But then, about 4 years ago, I met someone who changed my life. Her name was Ann Marie…
She was beautiful, smart, funny, and very, very challenging…
I knew from the … (5 comments)

naperville real estate: Getting back to basics in Naperville... - 06/01/20 07:56 AM
Good morning!!
Today is Monday, June 1st. The start of a new week. The start of a new month…
The morning is cool but beautiful. I sit outside on my front patio, facing east, watching the sun peek through the trees…
Despite the serene setting, I am feeling anxious. My mood the last few days has not been one I am happy with…
My sleep last night was fitful. Waking often, I found myself with an overactive mind. The challenges that lay ahead seemed overwhelming, and the opportunities felt few and far between…
Sometimes the world can get me down. I worry. I … (3 comments)

naperville real estate: Living the life of our dreams in Naperville... - 04/30/20 09:47 AM
Ann Marie and I live an almost idyllic life. We are happy, healthy, and live in a beautiful neighborhood in the city of Naperville…
We also live a life full of dreams. Dreams for ourselves. Dreams for our family. And dreams of our future…
We dream of buying a new home. A home large enough to accommodate our combined family. A home in the school district we hope to have our children educated in. A home in the neighborhood where our kids are starting their own lives. With safe streets. With children playing together. With kind and friendly neighbors…
I am sure you and … (4 comments)

naperville real estate: Growing our Naperville Real Estate Business during the Coronavirus... - 03/31/20 07:02 AM
Good morning!!
These are certainly crazy times we are living in…
With the Coronavirus on everyone’s mind, our health and the health of our loved ones is threatened daily…
Our financial health is also at risk. With most of the population quarantined in their homes and practicing social distancing, many who had been planning moves are holding off right now, waiting for more certain times…
As realtors, Ann Marie and I are small business owners, and we are always keeping an eye on our sales pipeline as well as the growth of our brand…
So as business owners, we have decided this is … (1 comments)

naperville real estate: Cleaning our Naperville garage on a Sunday afternoon... - 03/09/20 01:12 PM
Good afternoon!!
Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon was one of those gorgeous days in early spring that make the winters in Naperville seem worthwhile…
It was March 8th, the temperature was over 60 degrees, and there was endless sunshine
Just a gorgeous day to be out and about…
After a busy morning filled with a church service with the kids and showing homes to a new buyer, Ann Marie and I returned home and discussed what we should do with the rest of this beautiful day…
“Let’s get out of the house!” voted Ann Marie…
We considered our options, which consisted of going to a … (5 comments)

naperville real estate: Choosing a paint color when selling your Naperville home... - 02/20/20 01:39 PM
Paint is a topic that pops up with nearly all of our sellers...
"Do I need to paint my home?" "What color?" "Will it make a difference in the sale price?"
Often, we recommend that sellers put a fresh coat of paint on their walls prior to listing their home. It gives the home a fresh look and fresh smell, and can translate into shorter market time and thousands of dollars in our seller's pockets at closing.
Throughout the years, we have compiled a list of painters to refer to our clients that range from getting the job done at an affordable price … (0 comments)

naperville real estate: Lessons learned and a recovered car today in Naperville... - 02/17/20 11:47 AM
Good afternoon!!!
Today is a happy day. As many of you know, about a month ago, my car was stolen from my driveway in Naperville…
The car was recovered about 24 hours after it was taken, found on the south side of Chicago. The thieves clearly weren’t professionals, and appear to have just taken it looking for a joy ride. I hope they did enjoy it…
Today, I got my car back…
In the end, I have learned lessons from the experience. Most notably, lock my car doors and don’t leave the keys inside. Seems obvious now, however I still prefer to believe … (4 comments)

naperville real estate: A stolen car on a sunny January day in Naperville... - 01/20/20 12:25 PM
Good afternoon!
I sit this afternoon at my favorite Starbucks in Downtown Naperville…
The Starbucks is bustling and full of energy. Reflective of the town on this lovely day in mid January…
Despite the energy in this Starbucks, I sit here, somewhat stunned…
This morning, after waking from a good night’s sleep and drinking my coffee as I went through my morning routine, I headed out the door, excited by several new business opportunities which had recently come my way…
As I walked to the driveway, however, something was missing. That something, unfortunately, was my car...
Thoughts raced through my mind. What had … (8 comments)

naperville real estate: New Years Eve. Giving love a second chance in Naperville... - 12/31/19 10:50 PM
Good evening…

It is 5:49 pm, December 31st.  New Years Eve…

Two years ago today, I was invited to celebrate New Years Eve by a young woman at her home in Aurora…

I didn’t have any plans for the evening, and was excited for the invite…

The woman told me she didn’t have much to offer.  It would be just her and her three kids getting dressed up, playing games, and celebrating the final few hours of 2017 as a family…

And she asked if I would be part of that celebration.  What I didn’t realize at the time was it was really an invitation to … (5 comments)

naperville real estate: Getting started and experiencing life in Naperville... - 12/19/19 05:10 AM
Good morning!
It is Thursday morning. December 19th. A cold morning with temperatures in Naperville in the mid teens…
I sit at my computer. My fingers bounce on the keyboard, typing words and thoughts, yet none of the words seem to be coming together in any worthwhile, cohesive story…
This is unusual for me. Usually one with lots to say, I enjoy typing my thoughts every morning, creating something worthwhile, and sharing them with you…
However, today is somewhat different.
I have no great vision. No plan for my writing. Directionless a bit, I guess…
Perhaps that is my mood of the day?

naperville real estate: A Tuesday morning in Naperville... - 12/17/19 04:53 AM
Good morning!
Tuesday morning. 6:24 AM.
I am at my “desk”. Not really a desk. Just my couch, my feet up on the coffee table, my laptop on my lap…
The morning is good. It is dark outside and will be for a bit longer. The mornings are very dark at this date in mid December…
As I sip my coffee, listening to soft piano music over the speaker, I am happy.
I have made it. I am here. I am alive and feeling healthy.
There is much to be thankful for…
I am finding joy in the moment. Typing away at my … (3 comments)

naperville real estate: Worries, "to do" lists, and facing the day as a kid in Naperville... - 12/16/19 05:05 AM
Good morning!!
When I woke this morning, the clock on my phone read 5:50 am…
I had hoped to sleep in a bit later, as my plans for the morning weren’t urgent…
Yes, I had written a long "to do" list the night before. The list had actually filled up a whole page in my journal…
However, those “to dos” were just a series of errands. Errands I wasn’t going to start before 6 in the morning…
So I lay there, contemplative. My thoughts went to my week, and this week I am facing a few issues. Adult sized issues…
These issues were … (4 comments)
