A newly planned 26-mile bike trail called The Cross Charlotte Trail will stretch from South Carolina, through Pineville and Uptown Charlotte, then up to UNCC until it hits the Cabarrus County line in Harrisburg.  
Once completed, it will officially be the longest paved biking trail in North Carolina. It is expected to be completed by 2019.

There's a brand new farm coming to Cabarrus County and it's not your typical old fashioned farm!  It's a "Solar Farm" and it's one of the largest in the entire state of North Carolina
It will encompass 95.5 acres of land that was previously used for agriculture.
The new farm will produce 22 megawatts, which will be enough energy to fully power about 3,000 homes per year.
This clean energy is expected to offset more than 1 billion total pounds of CO2 in our atmosphere.
