Haynesville Shale meetings - 06/27/08 11:32 AM
There have been tons of meetings in Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas concerning the Haynesville Shale.  I've heard so many stories of new companies being started, retired folks being taken advantage of, and attorneys getting huge payments for negotiating leases.  But the best stories are of the landowners who own 6 or more acres and never dreamed of getting such large lease bonuses on their property.  Lives are being changed mostly for the good.  I'm curious to see how our city will change when wells begin to produce.  It's exciting for sure.

Advice from anyone in a market where mineral rights reserved is common - 06/27/08 11:11 AM
In a previous post, I mentioned the changes that are beginning to occur in our areas Bossier and Caddo Parishes and surrounding areas.  With the fever going on about the Haynesville Shale and landmen everywhere, our residents are signing mineral leases rapidly.  Which of course will effect our real estate market, I am just not sure how and for how long.  Can anyone out there who has experience give me some insight as to what our market may see in the near future and also in the long run.

Effects oil leases may have on resale value - 06/27/08 10:11 AM
I have a past client/ present friend who lives in Carriage Oaks in Bossier City, Louisiana.  She is keeping me informed on her neighborhood's efforts to collectively negotiate mineral leases on their land.  She wanted to know how signing these leases effect the value of their homes in the future. 
Since, I have not worked in a market where this is common, I was only able to tell her what I've experienced thus far.  I have had 1 deal out of the last 5 fall through because of reserved mineral rights being requested after negotiations started between buyer and seller.  The home … (0 comments)
