cleveland homes: State of the Real Estate Market: Cleveland's eastern suburbs, January 2009, - 01/07/09 08:04 AM
The current real estate market is favoring buyers in a most pronounced, lopsidedly beneficial way.  Prices are back down to pre-internet boom, pre-technology bubble levels... nearly those of 1994 to 1998.  Interest rates are near the lowest levels since World War II and the start of the Baby Boom.  More homes today in the Cleveland area are sold by banks and HUD than are sold by private owners.  Credit is still readily available to those with clean credit histories and steady employment, thanks in part to broader FHA financing.
What I see in the market today are the most serious sellers … (0 comments)

cleveland homes: Mayor Michael Bloomberg makes a great point on business openness - 11/07/08 08:35 AM
Here is a quote from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, in Business Week Magazine (August 25, 2008):
"Office layout reflects an organization's culture, but more and more, I think it will reflect the state of our economy.  Are we going to open our doors to the best talents and ideas in a continual push for innovation?  Or are we going to close our doors and rely on the 'That's the way it's always been done' approach?  The global marketplace is moving so fast that in five years, those who aren't pushing for openness are going to be increasingly pushed aside."

cleveland homes: Cleveland housing market: the good news and the bad news... - 10/29/08 04:08 PM
Today, two articles were featured on the cover of the Cleveland Plain Dealer... both very well written, both thoroughly research, these articles illuminate the difficulties of Cleveland's real estate market.  Impacted by the national credit crunch affecting all industries, as well as impacted by years of job losses and movement away from Cleveland's urban core, Cleveland faces challenges, and opportunities.  Here are links to those two articles:
Shaheen Samavati wrote this article:
Homes in Greater Cleveland beginning to inch up in value modest increases in sales activity seem to be starting to stabilize home prices, experts say

cleveland homes: Mansion in Cleveland Heights auctioned! - 10/20/08 02:53 PM
Laura Johnston of the Plain Dealer was in attendance along with around 70 people, myself included, to experience the auction of this amazing home.
I was very impressed by the turnout, especially in this market, and the bidding ran up pretty quickly... starting around $200,000 and running up to $250,000, to $300,000, to $350,000, then to $400,000... Tom Seaman, the auctioneer, tried valiantly to get the bidding up, and over the next ten minutes, could not cajole any of the bidders to wander over the $400,000 mark, not to $450,000, not to $425,000...  He then mentioned that the family selling the … (1 comments)

cleveland homes: Real estate sales is my ministry - 10/10/08 02:15 PM
I don't know about you, but sometimes when I am working with a buyer or a seller client, and I am advising them on their current situation, I feel ministerial.  And I receive from my career in real estate a satisfaction in the work that I do that goes well beyond the income I earn.
The past two weeks, I have been assisting a family in Shaker Heights making a move.  They are interested in purchasing one of my listings in order to combine three generations of a family.  The grandparents are getting up there in years, with difficulty with stairs … (3 comments)

cleveland homes: First time Homebuyers benefit NOW with the new Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 - 09/18/08 12:22 PM
This is very important information for first time homebuyers who are wondering if now is a good time to buy-- Now is a GREAT time to buy!  And this new $7,500 interest free loan is phenominal!  Why wait?  Home prices are already reduced... who knows when the prices will have hit bottom.  The only way anyone will ever know that prices have hit bottom is when it is too late: when prices begin to rise.  At that point, you missed the opportunity to score the biggest.  Besides, if you love a particular home, and it suits your needs, you won't make … (0 comments)

cleveland homes: More on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in today's Sunday New York Times... - 09/14/08 08:27 PM
I've read Gretchen Morgenson's articles for years, but it was today's commentary piece she wrote which gave me hope that someone, surely many, are thinking what I am thinking about this massive government bailout of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae... which is "Ouch!!!"
Read her article, The Joys of Ownership here:

I am optimistic about the ability of the real estate market to rebound in light of all the insanity, but I wonder how much we need the Federal Government to get involved.  Thank goodness they decided to steer clear of Lehman Brothers this weekend!  Bear Stearns was quite enough, … (1 comments)

cleveland homes: Case Western Reserve University green Eds+Meds+Culture Townhouse Living! - 08/11/08 06:14 PM
What ever happened to the idea featured in the New York Times in November 2006 regarding the Resurgence in Cleveland?  Here is the article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/08/realestate/commercial/08cleveland.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=meds%20and%20eds&st=cse&oref=slogin
Well, I was chatting with some enlightened friends, and we have an idea!  Case Western Reserve University owns the former Mount Sinai medical campus on the corner of East 105th and MLK Blvd. (Map of area) which could be an incredible mixed use development--retail, residential condominiums, research park, and community center!
Here is a driving tour of the former Mt. Sinai Medical Center campus... super low-tech, but gives you an idea of the locale.

cleveland homes: Home Buyers less willing to take on repairs, homes in "AS IS" condition - 02/29/08 07:48 AM
Buyers are sitting in the catbird seat in this market, and making out like bandits.  They have so many choices; interest rates remain very low; prices continue to fall in this market, as the Law of supply and demand economics rules without fail.  These buyers today are finicky, choosing to walk away from a home with dated wallpaper in search of another home in better "move-in" condition; rejecting homes with work to be done; and yet willing to pay fair asking price for a home that is in wonderful condition.
Sellers really need to partner with their real estate agent to price … (1 comments)

cleveland homes: Having any success blogging on MySpace or FaceBook? - 01/21/08 09:10 PM
I really enjoy ActiveRain, and I am receiving numerous referrals from other agents who have viewed my blog!
I just recently joined MySpace and FaceBook, and am wondering if any 'Rainers are having success growing their businesses with these networking sites.  A friend from church just invited me into LinkedIn, and so there is yet another place to spend some time... my question is, where are YOU finding success with these networking sites?
I understand that Keller Williams Realty is adding blogs to all our websites... so much work to do!
Please share with me those sites you suggest we all visit...
Thanks,
