Sale training in Real Estate and Mortgages. - 08/30/08 03:18 PM
Last Tuesday Pat Fenton came to do a "Sales Elite" Seminar in Elmsford, NY. His training was originally for Mortgage people, but now is for Realtors as well. I have to admit as I sat down, my cynical New Yorker side came in and I was thinking, "What kind of tapes is this guy selling". Well, Pat came out with a lot of energy and kept it up throughout the hours we were there. Several of my agents were with me and we were tired when he was finished. We just sat and listened for the most part. There was a … (0 comments)

So What are you doing to jump start your business for this Fall? - 08/29/08 01:24 PM
In my office we are going to work on more training and goal setting.
Getting out there and touching base with friends and former clients.
Setting up some better systems, so we don't have to re-invent the wheel every time.
What are the things that you do to jump start things now that the summer is in it's final days and it's back to a regular work schedule?
All the best!
Kevin

MOMA Visit NYC Museum of Modern Art - 08/29/08 12:58 PM
This is a little continuation of my last blog.   My friend and I realized we aren't the biggest modern art fans.  But there were a few that were really interesting.
The Picasso sculpture, the Dali's, The Warhol's.  You can look at a lot of the art and exhibits if you can't get there yourself.

This one was really interesting, you looked at it on the wall and couldn't see anything, in the photo, it looked like a bridge with people on it.

This one, I just liked.  If you are in the area check out MOMA it is … (0 comments)

MOMA New York Post-modern housing? - 08/29/08 12:37 PM
As a native New Yorker and someone who lives a half hour north of NYC, you know I don't do many tourist things unless friends come in from out of town.
Target was sponsoring free admission to the Museum of Modern Art, a friend of mine, in town from Florida found out about it and we went down.
We got on line not realizing the line went completely around the block, but once it started to move it moved very quickly.  The museum was crowded, but we did get to see a lot.
I will post some pictures of the art … (3 comments)

Can an old agent make it in this market? - 08/22/08 11:49 AM
Jennifer Allan, Author of Sell with Soul Denver, CO wrote a blog, Can a new agent make it in this market? The first thing that came to my head was Can an old agent make it? I have been in the market 25 years, I try to stay on top of the new technology and systems. There are agents with 40 and 50 years experience that don't always keep up. I would love to hear how the more experienced agents keep up with the new trends. Some of the things I do Stay involved with the Board of Realtors Take courses … (18 comments)

Is it time to buy? - 08/21/08 03:31 PM
The market goes up, the market goes down. Sometimes your personal situation is more important than the market. I was reading Jason Crouch and he was talking about people not being ready to buy. LONG TERM, I BELIEVE THE MARKET WILL ALWAYS GO UP. For the past 100 years that has been true, for the next century I believe it will be the same. If you just had your second baby in a one bedroom condo it may be time for you to sell and buy something larger. If you are paying high rent and income tax It may be time … (7 comments)

Do you have ICE in your cell phone? - 08/20/08 05:00 PM
If you don't you should. In your contacts area of your cell phone enter ICE and put the name and phone number of the person that you would like contacted if there is an emergency and you are not able to tell emergency personnel. Throughout the United States Police, Fire and Ambulance personnel have been trained to look for emergency numbers in cell phones. When I was a kid, it was cards in wallets. Pass this around, it could save a lot of heartache. All the best! Kevin … (15 comments)

Negotiating Real Estate Commissions - 08/14/08 02:04 PM
It is interesting that I read a few blogs about this in the past few days. A lot of Realtors are a little desperate these days and that isn't usually a good thing. Sometimes sellers don't realize that a slow market is probably the worst time to negotiate a real estate commission. Let's face it, when you offer a lower commission split on a house, when there is a lot of inventory, sometimes that house will be left out of some showings. If I had six houses to show and all of them were similar in ways, and I only had … (10 comments)

I'm back, after a relaxing week in Cape Cod. - 08/12/08 04:31 PM
I am proud to say I did very little during my stay on the cape. No blogging, no e-mails, no stressful negotiations. A little walking, a little shopping, a little eating a little drinking and lots of relaxing. The weather was really nice most of the week, warm days, cool nights, a little rain one day and a few minor passing showers. I am looking forward to getting back into work and blogging and responding, and enjoying the last month of summer. All the best! … (14 comments)
