realtors: Can an old agent make it in this market? - 08/22/08 11:49 AM
Jennifer Allan, Author of Sell with Soul Denver, CO wrote a blog, Can a new agent make it in this market? The first thing that came to my head was Can an old agent make it? I have been in the market 25 years, I try to stay on top of the new technology and systems. There are agents with 40 and 50 years experience that don't always keep up. I would love to hear how the more experienced agents keep up with the new trends. Some of the things I do Stay involved with the Board of Realtors Take courses … (18 comments)

realtors: Why Does the National Association want to give home value estimates? - 06/29/08 12:51 AM
This was my response to a blog written by John Elwell http:
//activerain.com/blogsview/569682/Isn-t-NAR-and.
Hi John,
I was on an advisory group for the NY State Association of Realtors regarding statewide datasharing.
THe group after much discussion came up with the idea to keep the Realtor in the forefront of the Real Estate transaction.
Zillow and Trulia have these estimates out there and information out there.   Realtors have the best information out there. Why would you not want the buyers and sellers not to get it from us and go to Zillow, Trulia or Google.
I understand that you will have to … (12 comments)

realtors: Why are you successful? - 06/16/08 09:01 PM
Or why not? I just read Gary Woltal's blog on working hard. I had done a blog a while back entitled "Back to the basics" How many of us are using a bad market as an excuse not to do the things that made you successful in the first place. Do you do your numbers? If it takes 100 calls to get 10 appointments to get 2 sales are you doing it? Many of us spoiled Realtors got used to 15 calls 5 appointments 3 sales in the busy days. Now the numbers are up, it is tougher but there are … (8 comments)

realtors: I am selling my house what should I do? - 06/12/08 03:21 PM
So much is written for the first time home buyer, few people talk about the first time home seller. The first thing you should do is talk to some neighbors and friends and get a few Realtor recommendations. Call any Realtor that regularly sends you mailings and also Google your area and Real Estate. Pick 3 or 4 that you want to meet with and interview. Some will come with a one-shot presentation, some will want to quickly go through your house and come back after preparing a market analysis Listen to them. Look at the packages they put together, ask … (7 comments)

realtors: Are you up for a physical challenge? - 06/05/08 05:37 PM
Brian Solinsky, ABR of Puyallup, WA came up with a running challenge for Realtors to get in shape,
you can be a part of it by going to his link Active Rain Running Challenge
I think this is a terrific idea,  I won't be running, but I am going to commit to walking 4 times a week for at least half an hour.
If a lot of us who have "Gained a few pounds" since starting in Real Estate start walking or running, we will be heading in the right direction.
I think it would be really cool if we sent … (1 comments)

realtors: Let's talk politics. - 05/06/08 07:16 PM
In the past few years the political scene has become more contentious.  It seems to me that in the past few elections there have been more arguments and accusations that have nothing to do with the actual issues.
Whether you are Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal.  Religious, Spiritual, Atheist or Agnostic, we are all Americans.  We as Realtors/Mortgage Professionals/Lawyers and in related fields can by example help re-unite our country.
Let's try not to get so emotional with our beliefs, let's respect the other side.
Let's also remember that many of us have the same basic beliefs,(Truth, justice, doing the right thing)and we … (2 comments)
