Misconception - Key West Real Estate - 09/29/11 10:20 AM
As I get older the more I thought I knew becomes blurred. Partly because my memory isn't what it used to be (true), and because things that I grew up believing are true no more. I really did believe in the Tooth Fairy. I really believed in Santa Clause despite the protestations of my big brother otherwise. When Officer Goody came to my grade school and told my classmates about safety, I believed all policemen were good. I believed, for example, that my government would never lie to me. Life taught me that sometimes others say things that are not true: (1 comments)
If you are looking for a Key West getaway with waterfront views, private dock, newer construction, and located near Old Town, you might want to look at 11 McCoy Circle in the Flagler's Landing Condominiums. There are just 13 units at Flagler's Landing which were constructed in 2001. Only a few have changed ownership since the development was built, so you may not have heard of or even know of its existence. The aerial photo above shows the location just off North Roosevelt Boulevard in the Hilton Haven addition to Key West. Unit 11 noted with the X Private outdoor (2 comments)

507 Frances Street - Old Town - Key West - Short Sale I have written about 507 Frances Street before. Now it is being offered as a Short Sale at the asking price of $499,000. 3015 Riviera Drive Key West Checkout the photo above. Pretty as a picture, don't you think? I know I usually write quintessential cottages in Old Town. This mid-century home is located in the area where mid-town and new town meet. The price and features make it a property worthy of further consideration. The listing Realtor describes the property this way: "Fabulous Fannie Mae Property Approved For A HomepathCountertops And Dark Wood Cabinets. Close To The Ocean, Entertainment, And Roads. Owner Occupants Close Before 10 31 11 And Request Up To 3.5% In Closing Costs. Restrictions Appl." Renovation Mortgage. Upgraded Dream (1 comments)
117 Golf Club Drive - Key West, Florida I really, really like this place. I have not been inside a similar unit at the golf course. The size, layout, view, and now the asking price make this Key West Golf Club townhome a property worthy of serious consideration. This unit was previously listed at $355,000 and now reduced to $255,000. The listing Realtor describes this beauty thus: "Now is your opportunity to reel in a cute island abode w/pleasing golf course vista along the #1 fairway. 1015 Angela Street - Old Town- Key West This is another one of those just listed but not by me blog posts. The listing Realtor describes his new listing at 1015 Angela Street this way: "Quaint one bedroom cottage located in the heart of Old Town Key West within walking distance to shops and restaurants. 1025 Elgin Lane - Key West, Florida - 2011 1025 Elgin Lane - Key West, Florida - 1965 Maybe it was serendipity that yesterday's blog was about life in the slow lanes of Key West. One of the lanes I mentioned was Elgin Lane. I know I went on and on about how sweet life can be on a little lane. And then late Friday afternoon another Realtor added a new listing to the Key West mls of a Bank Owned Property at 1025 Elgin Lane. The price is right, just $249,900 or $282 per sq ft for this (4 comments)
WPA photos depicting life on the lanes of Key West during the 1930s 1114 Elgin Lane circa 1965 - hanging laundry over the street would probably violate some city law today I have written at least a couple of times recommending that readers quit their jobs and move to Key West. Some people fantasize about doing something so rash. Some people actually follow through and do the deed. Key West lures the sane and not-so-sane. People come here to find what is not possible to achieve elsewhere. Many of those who end up here adopt the manana way of (4 comments)

We don't have skyscrapers. We don't have big stores with escalators. There are no Interstate Highways. Our rush hour (1 comments)
319 Grinnell Street - Old Town - Key West - Bank Owned Just listed, but not by me, 319 Grinnell Street near the Historic Key West Seaport. This house is Bank Owned. I expect multiple offers on this very interesting property because of its low offering price of just $299,500, and the fact that it has three key features most second home buyers want in a Key West house: (1) style, (2) pool, and off street parking. The listing Realtor describes this house this way: "Fantastic Location In Key West! Walk To The Water, Water Activities, Shops, And Entertainment. Boasting (3 comments)
920 Terry Lane - Old Town - Key West - 09/10/11 10:39 AM
920 Terry Lane - Old Town - Key West At least a couple of readers have taken exception to properties I have written about or areas that I seem to have intentionally 'neglected', particularly the midtown and newtown areas of Key West. I have been called an 'elitist' and a 'snob'. I am. Sometimes. I admit it. And sometimes I am wrong about houses in Old Town that I decide are not what buyers ought to consider for whatever reason. Such was the case of 920 Terry Lane in Key West. Mea culpa.I showed 920 Terry Lane for the very first (2 comments)

Sitting Pretty at 1223 Margaret Street in Key West Preferred Properties just listed the Conch style home at 1223 Margaret Street for the asking price of $949,000. This three story home was built new (not remodeled) in 1999 by Lauramar Development. That developer built several "in-fill" properties in various Old Town neighborhoods around that same time period. Each of the projects quickly sold out because the houses had the desirable old house "look" of historic Key West homes. The houses, however, were built to rigid new building codes and used modern building materials. The resultant homes are easier to maintain (2 comments)
The listing Realtor for the just listed transient licensed one bedroom condominium at 905 White Street (Unit #1) describes the unit like this: "This beautifully remodeled condominium is located centrally to all that Key West has to offer. Within walking distance to the galleries of White Street and just a few short blocks to Duval Street, this transient rental is perfect for your vacation home. The impeccable landscaping and small association (only 5 units here!) coupled with a fantastic property management program are key to continued rental success. 1006 Southard Street - Big Price Reduction - Old Town - Key West - 09/02/11 07:05 AM
1006 Southard Street - Old Town - Key West I have written about this charming house that is located on one of the very best streets in Old Town Key West for several years-yes, years. It has been listed on and off since 2007 when it was offered at $909,000. The asking price decreased a bit as listing agents changed. It wasn't the agent that prevented the house from selling. It wasn't the house that stopped it from selling. It was the price. The asking price is now $499,000. I expect it will sell within a matter of a few of (1 comments)
