historic: Lady in Waiting - 410 Simonton Street - Old Town - Key West - 10/27/11 02:55 PM
410 Simonton Street - Old Town - Key West The new listing at 410 Simonton Street is truly a Lady in Waiting-waiting for that special someone to come in and restore the house and grounds to the trophy property it should be once again. It's not that the property as it now exists is bad. It isn't. It just is not as good as it could be. In fact, it could be grand. The listing agent provides this bare bones description of 410 Simonton Street: "One of Key West's most beautiful houses. True history resounds in this one of a kind

historic: 507 Frances Street - Old Town - Key West - 06/18/11 08:28 AM
507 Frances Street is located on one of the best blocks in Old Town You probably have strolled by, rode your bike past, or driven by 507 Frances Street and wondered what it is and then easily continued walking, riding, or driving. It gets noticed because of its atypical architecture, but then it gets ignored because of it. People can't figure out what it is or why it should interest them as a potential home in Key West. I'm here to shed some light on this property and perhaps create a little interest in it. 507 Frances Street (above) in

historic: Really BIG short Sale - 1307 Truman Avenue - Key West - 03/04/09 01:11 PM
On January 29th I wrote about The Grand Dame of 1307 Truman Avenue in Key West. I extolled the virtues of this majestic old house. Folks, it just got even more attractive. This property is now a SHORT SALE. A short sale occurs when a seller offers to sell property for an amount less than is owed on the mortgage(s) against the property conditioned upon the lender(s) agreeing to accept less than full payment of the amount owed against the property. There are a lot of short sales in Key West, but kids, none of the houses compare to this one.

historic: 608 William - Old Town - Key West - 10/22/08 10:07 AM
Just Listed ( but not by me) 608 William Street, Old Town, Key West. I wrote about this house earlier this year when it was priced the same as it is in today's new listing. But there has been a big change. The owner has done some spiffy updating as well to tide the property over until a new owner decides possibly to renovate the property. This is how the listing broker describes 608 William: "The sweetest cottage in the very best Old Town location has just had a fabulous face lift! This circa 1887 conch classic has a wonderful outdoor

historic: Fixers - Key West - 07/06/08 03:53 PM
I don't get enough of real estate working it full time almost every day of the week. No, I gotta watch those stupid "reality" TV shows like Flip That House and Property Ladder. My favorite is Flipping Out on BRAVO. I was showing a $3.4 million house last Saturday when I opened the linen closet. The shelves were stacked with towels and bed linens that had been ironed. And each shelf had neat little tags that told the maid exactly where each item must be placed. I made a remark to my clients and the woman said something like "Jeff Lewis

historic: 405 Willaim St. Old Town Key West, Fl - 06/24/08 09:57 AM
405 William Street is located on one of the very best blocks in Old Town Key West. Some of the most historic and architecturally significant homes are located on this block. And this home is one for the books. 405 William Street is a two story renovated duplex. That will cause half the readers to stop reading. But wait. There is more. Before it was made into a duplex it was an awesome single family home with truly unique and grand features that would lend itself to being taken back to single family. Or, the home would make a great second
