1124 Stump Lane was built circa 1890 and rests near mid block on one of the slow lanes of Old Town Key West. Stump Lane runs parallel with Southard Street to the south. It starts at White Street and ends at Frances Street. It's only one block long and many locals do not know its name or location. Residents on this lane are never bothered by Conch trains or trolley cars and only rarely do tourists pass by the houses. And that is a good thing.
The listing Realtor describes 1124 Stump Lane as "Completely renovated Charming Conch (0 comments)
1108 Fleming Street in Old Town Key West is pretty as a picture - and then more. It's the poster child for quintessential Key West charm. Now it is available for sale at $1,250,000. The listing Realtor describes the new property thus: "Beautiful historic conch home located in the heart of prestigious Old Town Key West. This classic three bedroom has a warm open floor plan with vaulted ceilings. The guest cottage has its own access and off street parking located on Curry Lane. The tropical pool area has plenty of room for entertaining. The pool separates the main house from the (1 comments)
As I first approached the entrance to 1209 Johnson Street, I was not sure exactly what to expect. The house is hidden from street view by a multitude of mid range tropical foliage to towering palms. Custom made mahogany shutters protect all of the windows and are a start counter point to the blue colored house. This is no Conch cottage but instead a big house tucked away for privacy, I thought.
Circular wood stairs rise to the front entry. I have never seen a staircase that substantial or crafted with such care as a means of ingress or (0 comments)
key west house for sale: 1322 Thompson Street - Key West - The Essence of Cool - 04/30/13 05:40 AM
Cool.... in Key West! 1322 Thompson Street is the antithesis of the quaint cigar maker's cottages, the big conch houses, or the eyebrow houses that dominate Old Town Key West. Most of those houses are old and have been updated to accommodate today's lifestyle. Some renovations are highly successful while others are often challenged by small buildings, small lots, small budgets, or small imagination.
1322 Thompson Street, located just east of the Casa Marina Area, on the other hand, is a 1958 ranch renovated a few years back by Debra Yates and Raymond Jungles who created a one-of-a-kind Key West (2 comments)
If you have been watching the Key West mls for the past few months you probably have noticed that most of the houses that were listed for sale back in January have been sold. Many of the houses listed after February have sold or are in the process of closing. A few places are still available including the really (really!) cute three bedroom home located in the Terry Lane Court Condos at 818 Terry Lane in the Bahama Village area of Key West. It was listed in mid March. The listing broker describes this stand alone property thus: "Your own (0 comments)
1009 Eaton Street was just listed by Preferred Properties Key West, that's where I work but this is not my listing, is this two bedroom/two bath Conch style home that the Monroe County Property Appraiser says was built in 1923. I think it is much older than that because I found it on the 1889 Sanborn Map. That would indicate it existed before 1889 when the map was drawn. Be that as it may, it is still an old house and that is why it is the type that is sought by second home buyers who want a cute (0 comments)
Just listed by Preferred Properties Key West, that's where I work but this is not my listing, 1020 Von Phister Street which is located in the Casa Marina area of Key West. I know this area well because I have lived about 100 feet east of this house since 1995. I watched as the old house that used to be located here was torn down and the present house was completed in 2002. The house was one of two houses designed by internationally famous architect Yum Kee Fu. (The other house is located on nearby South Street.)
The Cute Corner Conch Cottage located at 1012 Whitehead Street may be the answer to your dreams if you are looking for a moderately priced two bedroom Old Town home that is within easy walking distance to Duval Street, the beaches, and the funky places that make Key West so interesting. The listing Realtor describes this property as: "Exquisite Key West cottage with two master ensuite bedrooms downstairs and up. Renovated granite kitchen. Updated spacious bathrooms. Only one block from Duval Street, just down the street from Hemingway's Home and KW Lighthouse. Enjoy one of the best locations (1 comments)
Just listed, but not by me, the ever-so-delightful 1305-1307 Petronia Street compound located in the Meadows Area of Key West. I got the opportunity to view this new property a couple of days ago. I was surprised and impressed. I had eyed and even photographed 1305 Petronia Street back in 2010 when I mentioned it in a blog I wrote about a similar house located on Windsor Lane. First, let me show you a photo that shows how this property looked nearly half a century ago. Next you will see how it appeared in the Key West mls in 2005. (1 comments)
Just listed by Preferred Properties Key West, that's where I work but this is not my listing, 1022 Packer Street. If you are a fan of the HGTV show "House Hunters" you may recognize this house as the home chosen by the young couple that was looking for a great home in the Old Town area of Key West. That episode was filmed in 2008. The couple recently completed a total redo of this very large home. It is now on the market at the asking price of $1,875,000.
The listing Realtor describes this home as: "Outstanding (2 comments)
Just listed by Preferred Properties Key West, that's where I work but this is not my listing, 1110 Petronia Street in the Old Town area of Key West. The listing agent describes the property thus: "This striking and eye-catching Old Town cottage occupies a very desirable location at the corner of Ashe and Petronia Streets. The owners have just completed an impressive restoration which includes new roof, shutters, windows, doors, attractive gutters, on-demand water heater, heating/AC system (including new duct work), and a stylish new master bathroom. There is a charming small swimming pool and off-street parking."
If you have been looking for a Bank Owned property in Key West with lots of upside potential, the new listing (not mine) at 1309 Villa Mill Alley is something to cheer about. I can't say enough good things about this property. The listing Realtor does a good job, however, by stating:
"Gated entry to this large 3529 sq ft home located in famous Old Town Key West on an alley only 2 blocks from the beach and Duval street. 5BR/4BTh. Master suite down with marble bath. Large spacious kitchen, a real dining room, office/craft room, outside (0 comments)
key west house for sale: Price Reduction - 1208 Von Phister Street - Casa Marina Area - Key West - 03/20/13 08:24 AM
The sunny back yard is a very large space with plenty of room for a pool plus outdoor living area. You might decide to blow-out the rear wall of the house and open the kitchen onto a covered outdoor living area overlooking the pool and gardens. I can tell you from experience that you can plant almost anything in the ground here and watch it grow. CLICK HERE to view a slideshow of photos I took of the outside of the property.
The existing house size and lot size would accommodate a larger house and a pool. Not (0 comments)
Just listed, but not by me, 715 Frances Street, in Old Town Key West. This classic three bay eyebrow house was built circa 1895. I found an old black & white photo of the house taken in 1965 (see photo below) and compare the same house as photographed nearly fifty years later. Quite a makeover, wouldn't you agree?
The outside is still simple even if the colors are a bit more lively. The inside has been upgraded to be sure, but not so much so that the house has lost its character. When I stepped (2 comments)
I have written about living on one of the slow lanes in Key West. This has got to be one of the "slowest" locations on any lane in Key West. That is for sure. Carey Lane is a real "dead end" lane as the photos at the top show. It is located at the junction of Margaret Street and Angela Street. The Key West Cemetery is on the opposite side of that "junction" and Margaret Street suddenly becomes Passover Lane. Confused?
The recently combined property at 811 - 814 Carey Lane is located at the far end of (1 comments)
Just Listed 618 White Street in Old Town Key West. This cute as a button two bedroom home is in move-in condition. It is adorable and affordable - and it is priced to sell at just $474,000.
I dug deep into the old shoe box and found a photo that shows how this house looked back in 1965. The photo has a note that says the house was built in 1890. The other houses on this block were all built at the same time and all originally looked the same. I was told this group of houses (1 comments)
Just listed, but not by me, 916 Fleming Street in Key West. This home is located on millionaires row where you will find some of the finest homes in Old Town. This stately home has been dramatically renovated and has all of the amenities a discerning home buyer could ask for.
The Monroe County property records show the house was built in the 1930s but we all know the old court house burned down and the property records were destroyed. I found an old photo that says the house was built in the 1920s. Like many of the older homes, (1 comments)
The new two bedroom home at 1115 Packer Street is sheer genius, and you can buy it for only $639,000.This newly listed home is described by the listing Realtor this way: "Picket fence paradise in Old Town, located strolling distance to Duval and; the beach. Meticulously restored this home is drop your bags ready. Home is energy efficient and eco-friendly. Outdoor living embraced with lush, native landscaping, outdoor shower, cut coral patio. Many custom touches including; chef's kitchen with Corian counter top, stainless steel appliances and gas stove, slow close drawers. Hand scraped Birch floors throughout except for gorgeous (0 comments)
