There is more to selecting paint color than you may think.  There are millions of color shades in this world - - including multiple shades of the color white.  We all have different personalities and taste but different colors make an impact on you feel in that room.  So before spending hundreds of dollars on paint, carefully consider your color choice and what kind of feeling you want in the room.

BLUE:  Blue is considered a calming color.  A dark blue wall encourages a deep and peaceful sleep with sedative effects.  Light blue promotes creativity.

YELLOW:  Yellow used alone in large rooms can be over-stimulating and stressful for your nervous system; however, yellow used in small spaces is bright, happy and stimulating and associated withintellect and expressive thoughts.

ORANGE:  Orange is considered a happy color.  It frees emotions, fights depression and cultivates good humor.  It is also a creative and full of energy color.

RED:  Red definately attracts attention (the red car or red marks on your homework); however, red can convey anger and aggressiveness, hence the saying:  "red with anger".  Red excites the senses, it is the color of passionate love and desire.  It is also a joyful color.

GREEN:  Geen has a calming effect on your nervous system, a feeling of relaxation.  Green evokes health and a number of thoughts.  it however can be associated with uncertainty and randomness (gambling tables).

BLACK:  Black has long been associated with religion.  It evokes dignity, power and sometimes threat.  Black is a symbol of authority and seriousness.  It is the symbol of elegance:  the little black dress.

In deciding what color to paint a room, start with something you really love in that room, whether it be a pillow, sofa, rug or vase and build a color scheme from that item.
