2012 was a busy year for fundraising to support further extension of The PATH down Coast Guard Rd on Emerald Isle NC. The bike path committee raised enough money to extend The PATH to the Dolphin Ridge/Royall Oaks entranceway. The completion of this leg of the bike path extension should be completed by Easter. Below is the proposed bike path for Coast Guard Road in Emerald Isle NC. They are currently constructing the green portion of the map with generous donations.

North Carolina may abolish State Tax and what that means for North Carolina Residents:

Republican lawmakers in North Carolina are proposing to eliminate personal and corporate taxes. This would mean that sales tax would go up and that some things that are not taxed currently will be, such as: lottery tickets, haircuts, housekeeping, dental visits, etc. The North Carolina senate leader, Phil Berger, says it is necessary to change the current state tax laws so that it will "modernize state's tax code and kickstart a struggling economy." Democrats say that the proposed abolishment of the state's income tax would hurt low income families the most. The proposal is suggesting raising the grocery tax, which is currently at 2%, to 8% if it is past.

Information obtained for the Tideland Newspaper dated 2/13/13, Volume 34, Number 23: Pages 1A & 9A

Effective March 18, 2013, the recycling rules for Emerald Isle NC are going to change. The Town of Emerald Isle will be requiring all permanent residents of Emerald Isle to have a minimum of a 40 gallon roll out recycling container at their property.
