According to Lawrence Yun, NAR Chief Economist, new home sales are at a 40 year low. On September 11, 2011, Mr. Yun spoke at the North Carolina Association of Realtors Convention at The Greenbrier. He says that builders aren't building for two reasons:
1. They don't want to build in some of the more depressed markets because they cannot make money and 2. They cannot get construction financing. All this is creating "pent up demand."
